(Ending Soon) The Siege of Iceforge Event Guide – How To Unlock All The Free Rewards

Update: The event is ending soon. If you still haven’t started working on it, don’t worry, you should still be able to complete it quite easily – a bulk of this event’s XP comes from the main quest chain.

Patch 24.6 introduced a brand new event system. Instead of doing them through regular Quests (usually chained together), we have a separate event UI with its own rewards track, unique quests and so on. It’s a huge upgrade compared to what we previously had – it’s significantly more intuitive now.

A new event has just launched. It’s called “The Siege of Iceforge” and it lasts for 15 days (until January 5 at 10 AM PT / 19:00 CET). It means that you have plenty of time to complete enough tasks to get all of the new rewards.

Rewards List

There are 5 different reward tiers:

  • 200 Event XP – Standard Card Pack
  • 350 Event XP – Battlegrounds Hero Skin – Tinker Town Toki
  • 550 Event XP – Standard Card Pack
  • 800 Event XP – March of the Lich King Card Pack
  • 1200 Event XP – Battlegrounds Hero Skin – Ini Snowmaster

As you can see, the total rewards are three card packs and two Battlegrounds Hero Skin.

How To Unlock All Rewards

In order to unlock all 5 reward tiers, you need to get 1200 event XP. But how hard is that, exactly? How much do you need to play in order to do it?

The bulk of XP comes from Quest Chain you see in the image above. You have 5 Quests, each giving you more event XP. This time around they are more generic so you don’t even need to build specific decks to progress them. Notably, they all require you to play X games, not win, so you can throw games if you only play BG or Constructed and not the other one. “Traditional Hearthstone” quests can be completed in Casual format too.

If you’re reading it on the first days of the event, you might have noticed that you can’t complete all of the main chain Quests at once. That’s because they unlock every day – which means that the last one will be available on Day 5 of the event. If you’re reading it after Day 5 then everything should be unlocked already.  Finishing this Quest Chain gives you 1000 Event XP in total, so you only need to get 200 through other means.

Another way to get event XP is Daily Event Quests. They are also quite easy to finish and each of them gives you 100 XP. You can reroll them once per day if you don’t like the one you got. Given that we’re only missing 200 XP, you only need to complete 2 Daily Quests throughout the entire event. Alternatively, if you don’t like some of the Quests from the main chain, you can just complete the whole event just doing dailies and playing the game since they give a lot of XP this time around.

And that’s it. The event can be completed by doing the whole main Quest Chain + 2 Daily Quests. However, if you’re an active player, you’re very likely to see it completed faster because you can also grind XP by simply playing the game. There is no official data on how much you get per game exactly, but it seems to be tied to match length. You should be getting 2-4 XP points of quicker games and more than that for longer ones (even 10+ if goes for a while). You will naturally get a lot of extra XP that way while working on your dailies – and if for some reason you can’t log in to complete your dailies, you can even complete the whole event on the very last day if you finish the main chain and grind enough (200 XP should be manageable).

All in all, I would say that an average player just completing the dailies, working on the main chain, and not grinding much should finish the event in roughly 4-5 days. But if you really, really want to get your rewards as soon as possible, you can just play A LOT of Hearthstone and potentially finish it in a couple of days.
