The Great Dark Beyond expansion is releasing next week, and just like every set, it will come with a rewards track refresh. On November 5, all players will be reset to Level 1 and start earning new rewards as they climb back up. Here’s a quick summary:
- After many expansions, we finally have some changes to the rewards track. On the free side, five of the early 50 Gold rewards will now be swapped for The Great Dark Beyond card packs. Overall it’s a positive change. While Gold is always better than card packs due to flexibility, if you planned to spend that Gold on The Great Dark Beyond packs anyway, it nets you 250g extra. Even if you planned to save it on something else, a card pack from the latest expansion is generally worth more than 50g. However, that positive change also comes with a revert of the Weekly Quests to their pre-29.2 state, including lower XP rewards, something that is not so positive (you can read more about it here). Other than that, however, the free portion of the rewards track is the same as in the previous expansions.
- The paid rewards track also got a small update – players who purchase Tavern Pass will earn four extra The Great Dark Beyond card packs. This is a purely positive change since those packs slot into previously empty levels, they don’t replace any of the existing rewards. Hero skins also don’t seem to be spread evenly across classes – some get 2 (Death Knight, Priest) while others get 0 (Druid, Hunter). Other than that, the paid rewards track is exactly the same as in the previous sets in terms of value.
- This expansion’s free Legendary every player gets at Level 1 is The Exodar.
- We have a single new Diamond card – Archimonde at Tavern Pass Level 2. Instead of the Diamond Legendary card previously given for collecting all expansion Legendaries, we have two Signature cards – Ethereal Oracle and Quasar (this trend has been going for a couple of expansions now so they aren’t likely to go back to Diamond Legendary). We also have two new cosmetic coins in the expansion – The Planetary Coin (Tavern Pass Level 90) and The Draenei Coin (Owning 145 expansion cards). Keep in mind that progressing those achievements will be easier when mini-set releases because the requirements for cosmetics don’t upgrade (but the pool of cards grows so it’s easier to get them).
- As for the other cosmetics in Tavern Pass, there are six Signature Cards (2x Galactic Crusader, 2x Red Giant, 2x Supernova), four Golden Cards (Nexus-Prince Shaffar, The Exodar, 2x Ace Wayfinder), 11 Constructed skins (one for each class), and a card back (Akama).

When the Rewards Track refreshes with The Great Dark Beyond launch, all players will automatically be granted any unclaimed rewards on the current free Rewards Track and the Tavern Pass track (if acquired), before a completely new The Great Dark Beyond Rewards Track takes its place. This time, we’ve improved both the free Rewards Track and the Tavern Pass track with an extra infusion of The Great Dark Beyond packs, so you get access to more new cards faster!*
* On the free Rewards Track, levels 2, 7, 11, 14, and 17 were upgraded from 50 Gold grants to The Great Dark Beyond Packs. On the Tavern Pass track, The Great Dark Beyond Packs were added into four previously empty spots at levels 6-9!

With the launch of The Great Dark Beyond, a new and improved Tavern Pass will be available, featuring a universe of new cosmetic rewards, XP Boosts, and expansion packs!
Getting the Tavern Pass at any time will immediately get you a 10% XP Boost that lasts the rest of the duration of the expansion, plus all items up to your current level on the paid track. As you progress along the Tavern Pass during The Great Dark Beyond expansion, you can earn: additional XP Boosts; the Archimonde Diamond Legendary card; the Nexus-Prince Shaffar and The Exodar Golden Legendary cards; 2 Ace Wayfinder Golden Epic cards; 2 Red Giant Signature Epic cards; 2 Supernova Signature Epic cards; 2 Galactic Crusader Signature Rare cards; a new cosmetic coin and card back; and 10 new Hero Skins; 2 Golden Standard Packs; and 4 The Great Dark Beyond Packs!*

Two New Cosmic Cosmetic Coins
Two new cosmetic coins have been added with The Great Dark Beyond: the Planetary Coin and the Draenei Coin. The Planetary Coin is earned by reaching level 90 on the Rewards Track with the Tavern Pass. The Draenei Coin is earned by completing the Achievement for having 145 The Great Dark Beyond cards.
The Great Dark Beyond will have a special Mini-Set that will go where no Hearthstone set has gone before, and which will make it easier to complete the collection-based Achievements. We’ll share more information about the Mini-Set closer to when it comes out. In the meantime, see the 31.0 Patch Notes for everything lifting off soon!
