Decks
Here are some of the cards you can expect to find in each deck.
If it’s the exact same brawl from the past, then Nefarian has the stronger early game (due to starting with 4 mana crystals), and Ragnaros has the stronger late game (better Hero Power).
Overall, Nefarian is heavily favored, he wins 60-70% of the games in my experience, and Ragnaros’ key card to come back from Nefarian’s huge early board advantage is Living Bomb.
… unless you draw both Core Hound Puppies early (I had them both on-board by turn 4), then it’s pretty much game over for Nerfarian unless they get an Electron -> Shadowflame combo.
Id say that Nefarian is not that favored. Having played many games i’d say its actually pretty balanced. The thing is that i think people dont play Ragnaros right cos its kind of counter intuitive. To win with Ragnaros, you have to focus on clearing the board constantly even if it means to attack a 7/7 with your 2dmg weapon. You have to consider your own Health as a resource. A typical turn 2 play is to play a 6/6 taunt and attack his 7/7 dragon with your weapon to force him to kill it to clear your taunt. This because on one part it helps you gain the board, which is imperative in this brawl, and also cos it helps you to drop your lava giants early (and your 20/20 later) Most games i won with Ragnaros i did it with about 10-15 Health left mostly because of all the damage i took attacking with the weapon at minions on the first few turns. And many times when playing Nefarian, i knew i won the moment my opponent decided to attack my face instead of a minion on the board with the weapon on those starting turns.
Ok, I figured out what’s going on. Nefarian used to be heavily favored, but the brawl has been tweaked since its original debut:

If it’s been tweaked, then I imagine it’s a lot closer to even nowadays.
Hallucination vs Ragnaros gives rogue cards
I thought I read on this site that we would get 3 packs to make up for the ranked play problems. Did I get that wrong?
You are correct, hopefully they are distributed this week!
Sorry, I should clarify. I thought I read the reward for the tavern brawl would 3 card packs instead of just one classic. I guess that’s not the case.
An upcoming Starraft-inspired tavern brawl will reward 3 Kobolds Packs (March 21 until March 25)
Ahh, yeah the 3 packs Tavern Brawl is the StarCraft themed one that will happen towards the end of the month.
Oh wow . 6 packs. 🙂
where did you read that says we get 3 packs? I didn’t see it here or on the official hearthstone website and twitter.
With Nefarian it’s impossible to win, the shitiest brawl ever… 4 times in a row with Nefarian…
Nefarian 0/5
Ragnaros 1/1 ez…
Nefarian first try win… 🙂
I won my first two in a row with Nefarian.
Winning with Nefarian is somewhat dependent on what cards you get from the hero power; getting a really powerful spell for 0 mana is amazing.
Having said that I just won my first attempt at this brawl (this time around) with Nefarian and 3 of the cards I got from the hero power cost 0 anyway… Ancestral Healing, Preparation and Forbidden Flame.
I like this brawl… one of the few I enjoy
Even though this tavern brawl has been done several times, it’s still one of my most favourite one to play.
It was the first tavern brawl ever 😉
Interesting thing to note too: If Nefarian uses Burgle (from his Wild Magic Hero Power) against Ragnaros, it gives you 2 coins instead of any of Ragnaros’ cards. Just something to keep in mind if you happen to get burgle from Wild Magic.
