Heart of the Sunwell Chalkboard
General Information
- Earn a Classic card pack for your first win in this Brawl.
- It’s the third time we see this Brawl. Last time we’ve seen in on June 15, 2016.
- This is a PvP Brawl.
- Brawl’s format is Wild.
- It’s a Constructed Brawl. Pick a class and build a Wild deck without any restrictions.
- The Brawl’s twist is that each player starts at 10 mana. It means that you don’t want to include cheap cards, put a good curve etc. Just play big bombs, removals, maybe even some expensive combos.
- You can also use greedy cards that would normally be too slow – e.g. Mind Control is amazing in this format.
I had a lot of fun playing a rogue deck with Mogu Cultists (Very effective deck as well)
Completing the conditions of it feels very rewarding and it usually wins you the game on the spot.
I made other decks that were more effective, but this was deffinetly the most fun to play.
Well, it turned out Shirvallah Paladin’s felt even more fun and interactive with double Lay on Hands
Undefeated with this (6-0)

Great deck. 7-0 for me
This Tavern Brawl reminds me very well why I don’t play Wild at all, in spite I have almost all cards. So much cancer decks available…
Starting with 10 mana is what cancers here. Not so much the fact that you can use Wild cards. 😉
Well erm … Big Priest? Not much fun, but won 3 games in like 2 minutes.
I can’t use the “Featured Cards” like N’Zoth for this deck, while they still work in normal play. Why Blizzard? Why??
EDIT: it appears grayed out, you must remove and re-add it. Hope this helps someone.
Players of the Sunwell! Have you heard about the Church of Anti-Smorc? Would you like to have the staying power to stave off aggressive decks while punishing slower builds? Would you like to relive the glory days of watching important 1-of cards burn away in a satisfying shower of salt? Now you can!
This is a list I found when trying to see if Mill Rogue was as solid in Sunwell as it somewhat was, and it’s still as fun as ever:
x2 Backstab
x2 Preparation
x2 Shadowstep
x1 Togwaggle’s Scheme
x1 Lab Recruiter
x2 Sap
x2 Elven Minstrel
x2 Vilespine Slayer
x2 Vanish
x1 Valeera the Hollow
x1 Brann Bronzebeard
x2 Coldlight Oracle
x2 Deathlord
x1 Antique Healbot
x2 Rotten Applebaum
x2 Sludge Belcher
x1 Zilliax
x1 N’Zoth, the Corruptor

“Me choose to go mill, me no need to kill.
Everybody knows that the mill is the skill.”
Are there ‘slow builds’ when Priest can Zerek’s Cloning Gallery turn 1?
Admittedly the list hasn’t been completely successful, even though I haven’t played nearly enough to get a grasp for what the meta is like. Hilariously, the deck outright loses to big bodies that get mindlessly played every turn since there’s only so much removal/taunt you can shove in. It’s a sad day when you’re losing to things like Burly Shovelfist and Faceless Behemoth.
Maybe I’ll experiment further by swapping out Deathlord for Khartut Defender(?), but I’ve relearned the biggest issue with Mill – its dependency on its own draw cards. Still managed to get some hilarious plays against players who have no idea how to deal with the archetype.
Funniest match I’ve had was probably an Activate the Obelisk Priest, who after decking out and having only 10/15 quest completion drops a Mind Visioned copy of Valeera the Shadow… then quits after he realizes he’s botched his own quest requirements.
I dont like tavern brawls which rely on your own cards, people who dont have the full HS collection get the shaft here.
Agreed.
It changes literally every week.
everyone has 1 type they hate
i hate the ones that give random effects that players have no control over as i tend to have very poor luck with those
I’ve probably only got 1 that I like (quite enjoyed the “basic cards only” one) – I normally just chalk off one win to get the pack and that’s more than enough 😐
… actually, thinking about it, I’m pretty sure I don’t really like Hearthstone I just seem to play it a lot 😀
I think a miracle rouge will do really good with turn 1 gadgetzan arctioneer. Sap will also be pretty broken!!
