This week’s Tavern Brawl is Brawliseum – Miniature Warfare!
Discuss this Tavern Brawl on our Discord!
General Information
- Your first entry is free!
- It’s the first time we see this Brawl, but it’s a twist on a common Miniature Warfare Brawl.
- It’s a build your own deck Brawl.
- The Brawl’s format is Standard.
- The Brawl is played in a Brawliseum format, which is similar to Arena, but with Constructed decks. You play to 12 wins or 3 loses.
- Even though all minions cost 1 when they’re drawn, they retain their original cost while in the deck. Which means that Baku the Mooneater doesn’t work if you start with Even cards (despite them being Odd when drawn), and that your Bwonsamdi, the Dead will only draw actual 1-drops.

Had fun and at least tried a rather “interactive” and original, selfmade deck.
Runs so far are 7-3, 9-3, 8-3 and 9-3 so I guess it kinda works.
Deck focuses in several ways of pushing a lot of damage, easier if you’ve already played Alexstrasza obviously. But the point is you can develop your combos faster than it seems, and you have some nice deffense against “zoo” decks. OTK games are a lottery tbh, so it all depends on how fast you draw damage, forgetting about combos.
It might do even more damage adding Nightblade or something like that, but would affect cycle / deffense. Bit expensive. Good luck and have fun if you feel like trying it.

Added Nightblade x1, taking out Gnomish Inventor x1 (you can just Tap for 1 more mana).
Finished 11-3. Maybe just luck, I drawed early Alexstrasza 40% games.
Sorry guys, but I don’t trust anyone sayin “12-0” … Doing 12-0 is near impossible with any deck in this brawl. There are pretty much only rogue combo decks atm and it’s impossible to win against them consistently because of their RNG orientation. Many times there are no decisions made and game ends in 2nd turn (literally). Tried a few decks, best result was 7-3 but most runs I finished between 2-3 and 5-3 no matter how hard I tried. Most losses were inevitable. This is the least interactive brawl ever.
I had some fun with Blazecaller and Meteorologist 5-0 and then … went south (5-3).

Any new decks ?
This brawl is an insane oppurtuniti to farm tons of packs for free to play players…2 legendaries and 400gold with maly rouge!
Exactly!
Is it possible to play without Alex ? Don’t have it on my alt.
Ty
Possible, but much more difficult. In the early game Alex is basically “deal 15 damage for 1 mana”, it’s the best card in this Brawl.
You probably won’t get that far without her, but you can still snatch a few wins probably.
Thank you for the answer. That’s clearly what I thought. I finally made a better result than on my main account (9 against 6).
Played Rostalina Miracle Malygos Rogue.
-1 kidnapper (+1 sap);
-1 Alex (+1 Cleef).
Cleef is really good in the deck.
Hf.
7-3 and 8-3 with mecha’thun warlock.

Only managed 5-3 in my last run. All losses against rogues. Swapped the cult master and a dreadlord for two soup vendors. We’ll see if it helps.
aggro rogue with shark, bonemare/fungal/alchemist, Alex opening is unbeatable 🙁
A friend and I went 9-3 and 12-2, respectively, with this combo rogue deck:

Spirit of the Shark + all of your face damage/combo damage + shadowsteps = win. Alex just makes it more efficient.
Thanks for posting this list! Ive gone 23-5 over my last 2 brawls. This deck is a lot of fun too!
Seems like 99% of decks are either Rogue or Priest, and everyone is playing some sort of combo deck. Most of the time, you’re not so much competing against your opponent as your opponent as you are against RNG in terms of getting your combo pieces. It’s almost simultaneous competitive single player. “Best” game for me, turn 4 OTK as Malygos Rogue with only 4 cards left in my deck at the end.
Ultimately, this brawl seems like a good illustration of why a combo-heavy meta gets old quickly for a lot of people.
Lol, it`s easy gold & dust. Best brawl preexpansion ever
I might go in and farm the brawl; using WingedScribe’s list for my free run, I went 12-1. Only loss was from not drawing into any Auctioneers, card draw or Giggling Inventors, so I got thrashed by Giggling Inventor + Bonemare.
The deck even gets a OTK as early as Turn 3, which I had for my last 3 wins. Gadgetzan Auctioneer, Spirit of the Shark, Coin, Prep + Spell, Prep + Spell, Spectral Pillager, Shadowstep, Spectral Pillager. Turn 1 Spirit of the Shark, followed by at least 1 Bonemare on the next turn is pretty silly too.
On the other hand, you could have terrible luck and not draw into anything and waste 150 gold…
That friend of mine did a second run and had OTK on turn 2. This deck is pure shenanigans. ^_^

This deck is the nuts. Good old Shudderwock Shaman is kinda back!
Ps. I play only 1 copy of Primordial Drake and instead of the second a Dragonmaw Scorcher because Shudderwock would kill Grumble on the board, because of the 3 damage of Hagatha and ruin the combo.
Easy 12 wins on this stupid tavern…
Do it again and reap the easy rewards you complainer!
Just finished 12-1 with a Miracle Malygos Rogue:

-2 Gnomish Inventor +2 Arena Chest
Props on this deck. Went 6-0 in less than 30 minutes. Will try to get to 12 tomorrow.
thank you. 7-3, 7-3 and 12-0
Thanks for the deck list. Saw it yesterday when there were no available decks and built it (had to replace Kidnapper with Brewmaster). Haven’t had much time to play, but I’m currently 5-1.
-1 Kidnapper +1 Ironbeak Owl (counter battlecry rogue)
Currently running Odd Paly and it’s going well. Cards like Giggling Inventor, Alextrasza, Onyxia, Ysera, Fungal, Dragonmaw Scorcher are really good.
Saw an interesting Mechathun deck with cards like Arena Treasure Chest that I lost to. I also lost to a combo priest with cards like spirit lash, squashling, pyromancer etc
Bwonsamdi does not work, so Baku prolly doesn’t either
Does Baku work?????
Baku works. But I tried it with only odd cards. So not sure if you can add Even cards too since they cost 1 eventually.
Baku does not work with even cards in deck (no spells, just minions with even cost).
I guess they transform in hand
A few tips…
1. minions sumoned by other minions are also 1/1 *Ej. the hyenas from the lion are 1/1s not 2/2s
2. Buffs from any source do apply correctly on minions. *Ej. Dire Frenzy gives your minion +3/+3 and its copies also get the buff.
3. Temporary buffs work correctly as well *ej. Stormwind campion turns your 1/1s into 2/2s.
Can minions be buffed? Or will they remain 1/1 no matter what?
They can be buffed.
The rewards are like the ones in arena? They get better as you have more wins? Or you receive one classic pack for participating, as usual?
Rewards get better the more wins you get. It’s basically the Arena reward system.
wait since all cards cost (1)… could you run Baku and Even cost cards, since they go back to (1) mana?!?
tried, nope
