This brawl is a ton of fun but the limits for this particular mix are pretty much panning out like I thought they would. All I’ve seen are mech decks: hunter, pally, and shaman so far.

I also noticed how valuable the magnetic mechanic has become not only because of mech dominance but because all of the silence cards are not found in any of these sets, which make magnetic targets (and mechs in general) high priority targets. Its such an interesting microcosm to the game and I really think this could make an excellent rotating new format for hearthstone.

So basically, I think this brawl is really sick, and the forums are either mid- to long-term players talking about how awesome it is or new players saying it sucks. I think it’s a really good idea. Hell, they should try either making a third format in kind of this way, with a rotation between a random group of 3-4 sets every month, or even just do more tavern brawls like this, limited card pools and wild card pools. I really hope they begin pushing more wild stuff, it’s a really fun format with lots of nostalgia.

I don’t think they can ever really push wild unless they lower the price of wild packs and/or allow wild pack purchases with gold. Its just not a format that is particularly favorable for F2P players.

I do think this would make a great new format. It gives veteran players new challenges for deckbuilding and a whole new meta.

(I seriously think they are just testing this for a new format. They want to see how it is received by the community)

Wondering if anyone has tried out an Astral Communion Druid in this yet.

If you’re a relatively new player and have mostly been buying Classic packs, you might not even HAVE 30 cards from these sets. A lot of players will be physically incapable of playing this brawl.

Put the cards that you do have and it will auto generate the rest of the deck

    Mech Priest for the win!

A fun interaction to use in this brawl is Snowchugger with a Missile Launcher magnetized to it. The 1 damage to all characters at the end of the turn also freezes them.

It’s even better with Venomizer – instead of freezing, it kills every other minion 🙂

The Venomizer interaction is nice, but it does kill your other minions. From what I’ve seen of Snowchugger + Missile Launcher, your own minions at least get to attack every other turn.

Just went 3-0 with my first attempt at a deck for this mode, an Odd-Mech-Inspire paladin mix, could definitely use some refinement. I think I might try to build a Warrior deck next, need a deck with both Dr. Booms ^^

    # Format: Wild
    #
    # 2x (1) Cogmaster

This deck is too slow against the more aggro mechhunters.

a lot of decks without any card of past expansions. what a bad idea for the brawl.

Then just play wild. I kinda like this brawl. Try to come up with new deck ideas with limited cards. They should have more brawls like this.

        January 9, 2019 at 6:31 PM

No, they shouldn’t. This brawl is probably the worst brawl in a long time

        January 10, 2019 at 7:43 AM

They should at least give a few cards for this brawl… its not nice for people who are F2P and didn’t play past expansions…
