Weekly shop update – and it’s a pretty big one. We’ve got three new items, including one completely new type of packs. But first things first.
Khadgar Hero Set is now available. You can get Khadgar Mage Hero portrait and related card back for $9.99 or 1500 Gold. The Hero was originally released as iOS exclusive in April 2016, and was last available for everyone over a year ago, in February-March 2020.
Second new addition is Standard Bundle. It contains a completely new type of card packs – Standard pack. It contains cards from all current Standard expansions – so right now Ashes of Outland, Scholomance Academy, Madness the Darkmoon Faire and Ashes of Outland. It’s a nice way to fill the gaps in your Standard collection thanks to the duplicate protection.
And frankly, it’s a really great value. 5 packs for $5 are already hitting the baseline, and you’re getting a random guaranteed Standard Legendary on top of that – so 400 extra Dust in the worst-case scenario (and a good Legendary you can play in best-case).
And last, but not least, we’re getting one of my favorite card backs. You can now purchase Pizza Stone card back for $2.99 or 500 Gold. It’s one of the newer card backs we’ve got in the shop – players could originally get it during Season 59 (February 2019) by winning 5 ranked matches.
We know that Standard Bundle is available through May 24. No info about Khadgar Hero and Pizza Stone card back – they might stay this long too, but they also might be gone next week.
Khadgar was the historical best Mage portrait. Now that we have Kel’Thuzad and a billion different Jainas that may be up for debate, but I still he’s one of the first AND coolest heroes of Hearthstone.
Bought the standard bundle with google play money. Got one golden legendary, one normal and the extra one. So three legendries for “free”. Feels rather nice.

I don’t wanna brag or something like that (it might still seems like bragging). I have spent my gold on Thunder King, Sylvanas, Alleria, Sir Annoy-O, Hazelbark, and the last one Khadgar. I think I bought every skin so far except Maiev which I got when she was first released and Medivh which I got from my friend’s key code.

I’m slowly and starting to get worried that by the end of this, I’ll have Kel’Thuzad, Deathwing and Mecha Jurxxasus back to back to back. Don’t get me wrong, the other Portraits are still cool, but that trio is what I’m really going for.
For once I’m actually starting to have some Fear of Missing Out, even though I feel that these portraits will eventually return since it’s much fewer than the card backs.
I think the Card backs, so long as it’s a new Card Back every time, it’s going to be much harder to reach in order to loop.
What I really need is “random portrait” function like random card back. I just HATE the fact that I have so many cool portraits that I won’t use, because I can’t be bothered to change them manually every few games (so I stick with the one I like most).
And the rotating portraits are actually anti-FOMO for me. I know that I don’t “HAVE” to get every single one I like right away, because it will make a comeback eventually. I have at least 2-3 extra portraits for every class now anyway so I don’t feel like I need more until the random portrait function. The only thing I’m “worried” about are Battle Pass portraits – there are just so many of them that they would nearly fill the entire rotation by themselves.
I think a Random Portrait would be a great extra value within hearthstone along with a Random Cardback.
I think a Random Card Back should be added first though in my opinion, and then a Random Portrait though.
Or maybe they could do a Portrait of the Day, but you won’t get the Portrait’s Card Back for example and you’d get a General Card Back of the Day would be a lot better than what we have as of right now.
But yes, a big understandable frustration, too, Stonekeep.
Random card back is an option I believe. The option for it is located right next to the classic card back if I remember right.
Isn’t is possible to attach a portrait (and a card back) to a specific deck? I heard somewhere you can do that lately.
Of course, it won’t help if you use the same few decks all the time.
Yeah you can change hero and backside on specific deck, but yeah as you said it won’t solve it for people who don’t play many decks at the same time, and with the same hero. However you can do an exact copy that only changes the hero and backside if you truly only play a few and then have a few fast selections for different heroes.
