Year of the Wolf is starting very shortly. It was announced a while ago, but many things were happening at once (big announcement in the middle of a card reveal season), so many of you could miss this information. I’ll be honest that I also forgot even though I read it when the announcement blog post first launched. But given that the new set is just launching and many players tend to dust their old cards just as they rotate out to Wild – Nicholas “DeckTech” Weiss has posted a reminder:
Good morning and happy launch week! As we prepare for tomorrow’s launch and set rotation, I wanted to remind folks of this–just in case those of you who dust your rotating cards might want to hold onto them this time (at least until you see what’s on the way). pic.twitter.com/J6kfQSWxeL

He probably hints at one of the locked “spells” in in Year of the Wolf roadmap. However, since there are three of them, we can’t be sure when that “new way to play with older cards” is coming. It might be during any of this year’s expansions, so even as far as early 2024.
Some sort of new format to use Wild cards in has been on the top of many players’ lists for new features they would like to see in Hearthstone. Two popular ideas include an “extended Standard”, a Standard-like format with up to 4 or 5 years worth of sets instead of just 2, and a “rotating format”, similar to how Arena works, just in Constructed.
They also tease a more extensive Wild update – no details about it yet, but if it’s really interesting, it might persuade some players to join the Wild side.
The reminder doesn’t really matter for me since I never disenchant Wild cards anyway (I got rid of some Gold Wild cards in the past when I needed Dust, but that’s about it) – but if you’re one of those people, maybe you should reconsider it. Or if you’re 100% sure that Standard is the only Constructed format you’ll ever play, then go ahead and dust them anyway!
Arena is already a rotating format with old cards.
Yes, but it’s not a Constructed format, as in you don’t use your collection to build Arena decks.
a rotating format would be very interesting (if it rotate frequently enough to keep the meta fresh), extended standard would be too similar to wild anyway (card from early set like GvG, TGT rarely see play since they’ve all been powercreeped)
Speaking of Wild, the Wild meta tier list on the website is in dire need of an update.
I never disenchan cards, only nerfed ones. I’m really curious about this new/tease. Soons like comes in very short time. <3
