Hotfix for Mindrender Illucia & Drakkari Enchanter

A new hotfix was just released, dealing with issues regarding two cards. Mindrender Illucia would sometimes swap hands & decks permanently (haven’t encountered it, but it sure must’ve been fun). Drakkari Enchanter‘s effect no longer applies to Secrets since it was crashing the game (Plagiarize is the new Secret that triggers at the end of turn, no Secret before did it).

It’s a server-side hotfix so you don’t need to download anything.

Hey everyone,

We’re currently in the process of deploying a hotfix to address the following items:

  • Fixed a bug where Mindrender Illucia could sometimes permanently swap both players’ hands and decks.
  • Updated Drakkari Enchanter’s effect to no longer apply to secrets due to a bug that could cause a crash with secrets that trigger at the end of a turn.

This fix will take place on the server side, so you won’t have to download anything if you’ve already updated to 18.0.

I had the Ilucia bug – I think it was if the person playing it had an empty deck. Thankfully the guy I was playing against was honest and conceeded, because he would have lost if the bug hadn’t happened!

Lorekeeper polkelt also needs a fix tho. I’ve been playing a rogue deck with it, and whenever i put extra cards in my deck after having played him the deck is now randomized again.

That’s supposed to happen. Every time a card gets shuffled into your deck, the entire deck gets reshuffled, whether it be your own cards or enemy bombs.

I havent thought of that, maybe because the word for “shuffle a card” in spanish just means “place a card”. But also it doesnt make much sense to me that the whole deck needs to be shuffled.

I think it’s always worked that way and it just didn’t matter until now. I’d prefer it if that complete reshuffling didn’t happen either, tbh, but I guess there may be a deck out there somewhere that would want to reset a Polkelt ordering

This is how it has always been with every card game out there. Any stacking effect that orders somehow what you draw becomes null when you put a new card into the deck, because this always issues a new shuffle command. We couldn’t notice it till recently because the shuffle happens automatically, but it was always there.

I think that’s more of a general card game thing – every time you add a card to your deck, you obviously need to shuffle the entire deck, because otherwise you would know where the card is. In Hearthstone it’s different, because it’s done automatically and you never know where the game puts it, but I guess they kept it to feel more “real” (for physical card gamers it honestly feels pretty natural to shuffle deck all the time, lol).

It was confirmed a long time ago, but in the past it was never really an issue. Only recently we’ve started getting effects that place the cards in a certain order – like Sightless Watcher in Ashes of Outland (the card you put on top would be gone if you shuffled something else to your deck) or Polkelt and Sphere of Sapience this time around. I hope that they end up adding more similar effects in the future too.

And I actually quite like it – it gives those effects some sort of counter. Your opponent can also shuffle cards into your deck to randomize it again after you play Polkelt, for example.
