Here’s How The 1k Wins Mage Portrait (Fire Mage Jaina) Could Look Like

Glenn Rane, artist known for a lot of Warcraft artworks / concept arts, as well as multiple Hearthstone pieces (Sylvanas Windrunner, The Lich King, Molten Giant or Aya Blackpaw, among many others), has shared his take on Fire Mage Jaina cosmetic Hero (the one you get for hitting 1k wins with Mage).

Ultimately it didn’t end up in the game, because Blizzard decided to “go a different direction”, but it looks great! It has a much “darker” and serious feel to it. Here’s a comparison between the current artwork (created by James Ryman):

Jaina has one of the best 1000 win portraits, IMO.

I prefer the final art’s pose, but I think Glenn Rane’s image has a better ‘vibe’ to it. (for lack of a better word)

I absolutely adore the current art. I also love Rane’s style and his countless contributions to Hearthstone’s art pool – but I think that the final art outmatches Rane’s approach by a mile, especially looking at Jaina’s core features as a Frost Mage and the complete reversal of it. That’s just me, though!
