Update: Day 2 is now live! You can watch it on Twitch or YouTube. Enjoy!
It’s finally here! The official World Championship announcement. This year’s Hearthstone esports has been a very bumpy ride but we’re finally at the end. Will the next year be better, or will Blizzard decide to close down the esports division completely? Only time will tell. For now, we still have the most important event of the year ahead.
Masters Tour: World Championship 2023 happens this weekend (December 16-17). The streams will start at 9 AM PT / 6 PM CET! 8 players qualified through various ways (previous Masters Tour, ladder points) will fight for their share of $350k prize pool.
The event will be played on Patch 28.2.1. The meta is pretty much settled already so we more or less know what to expect, but given the caliber of the players, it wouldn’t be surprising if some of them tried to bring some metabreakers to get an advantage. The roster is really stacked – those are some of the best Hearthstone players so even without unique decks the whole thing should be fun to watch.
Twitch drops will also be active. Watch the tournament on the official Twitch channel to earn up to two Showdown in the Badlands card packs. We don’t know how long you will need to watch to earn the packs, but it’s usually 2 hours per pack (so 4 hours in total). Just be sure to connect your Twitch and Battle.net accounts if you haven’t done it already.

The final Masters Tour of the year is this weekend! The top point earners from the January through November Ladder rankings join the champions of the Spring, Summer and Fall Masters Tours in a showdown for their share of the $350,000 (USD) prize pool. Read on for everything you need to know to enjoy the action, only on Twitch and YouTube.

Keep up with all of the latest Hearthstone Esports news and content on the Hearthstone website and Twitter. Good luck, have fun, and we’ll see you in the Tavern!
I’ll miss it if it would be the last season.
I ve really enjoyed the last ten years watching people who actually know what they’re doing, commentated by people who know what they’re talking about.
I enjoyed going to the championship in Amsterdam.
Thanks to all the competitors, casters and production teams.
I think most would agree that it should be announced that open qualifiers return next season and restore hearthstone esports to greatness again – or it’s a bust for this diminished world yearly finals.
I wish they did, but I’m pretty pessimistic about that. This year they really didn’t want to put emphasis on the esports. Horrible first announcement, only a few events, they didn’t talk much about them, no hype built around them etc. I think they hoped that people will just forget and they could shut down the program completely next year citing “not enough interest”.
I would love to be wrong. I would love them to restore Hearthstone esports back to its old state and try to revive it. But I just don’t think so. I don’t want to get my hopes up and then be disappointed.
