He’s not ‘Jarla’ but ‘Jára’ .. it’s funny.. those nicknames are actually unpronounceable for americans. Pokrovac is also pronounced totally different in Czech but it’s so difficult that he resigned and adopted that american pronounciation 😀
It’s not even a nickname, it’s his civic name, “Jára” is variant of the Czech name “Jaroslav”, similarly to “Ben” instead of “Benjamin”, or “Tom” instead of Thomas. The pronounciation is like “Ja:ra Whiskotchill”.
