Hearthstone Balance Change Announcement Coming on October 15th!

Hold the phone! It looks like we might actually get a balance patch in The Boomsday Project meta after all. The official Hearthstone Twitter account just tweeted out that they’ve been discussing some card changes on a couple of cards. It is very likely that those cards are Giggling Inventor and The Caverns Below. However, it could be something else, maybe a Druid card? We’ll see, check back with us on October 15th!

We’ve been discussing a couple of card balance changes to make next week. We’ll have more information to provide on October 15. – Source

I, as a wild f2p player, believe that psychmelon is naga on steriods. it should be changed to 8 so it isn’t broken

All i see in here is just druid, druid, giggling. Ever played against a hunter on turn 5 with 3 devilsaurs on bord? HoF play dead? Some decks have power spikes, this is why some ppl play the deck. Just because thay have a god draw does not mean the deck/card needs to be nerfd. Play the deck/card before you talk. Kk thx bye

We all agree on that. The problem is that with the fuckin exact same core, you may build almost complete different kind of druid and because of this overpowered core, it’s gonna be tier 1 whatever you chose to build. And that’s anormal. 4years without at least 1 druid deck tier 1 OmegaLUL

UI is in bad need of a nerf. 5 dmg to a minion and no armor gain. And it will still see play.

Honestly, I don’t mind giggling, it seems pretty balanced compared to all the druid stuff running around. Save the nerf for druid cards

I think they can easily just modify some of the cards and create a diverse meta until the new expansion comes. There are a number of problematic cards:

    1) Caverns Below – A simple nerf could be preparation doesn’t reduce the cost of the card, it should always cost 5 no matter what. That would certainly nerf it, but not into an oblivion and still would be playable. Quest rogue should be around to hold those boring druids and odd warriors at bay.

    2) Giggling Inventor – Change to 6 or just change the taunts to wax elemental.

    3) Druid Spellstone – It’s too easy to activate. One card should not be allowed to upgrade it so easily. Every other spellstone requires at least 2 cards, so change the armour gain prerequisite.

    4) Spreading Plague – the most problematic card in hearthstone’s existence. Druid was historically weak to wide boards, this allows them to welcome wide boards with open arms. Change this to 3 1/5 scarabs max, or just change the life on the scarabs. Decks should not forced to run mossy horror, especially if it kills your own minions. Defeats the purpose.

    5) Odd Warrior Armour gain – 3 armour should be max. 4 armour is insane and should fall in line with the other hero powers. This one is way too oppressive and boring.

    6) Nourish – Gain 2 empty mana crystals. It’s a greedy card and should be treated as such. To play that on 5 AND be allowed to spend extra mana on removal is just wrong.

    7) Arcane Tyrant – Change to 6 mana spells. To play that with nourish and out tempo the other deck is ridiculous.

      8) Mind Control Tech – This card needs to be put into the hall of fame asap.

Is an auto include card to all decks x2…
You can’t play around it all times.
MCtech has to leave yesterday !!!

          October 12, 2018 at 9:31 PM

you cannot effectively play around this card, if you are a deck that needs to play minions and pressure early this single card defeats you. Against other (non bullshit) aoe cards you can develop a larger minion that will survive the damage of the anticipated aoe or a deathrattle minion to get some value(unless it’s psychic scream) but against MCT the correct play is “well I can’t just stop playing the game just gonna play this lich king to play around armor up+reckless flurry and hope he takes one of the 3 weaker minions if he has MCT” this card also is hilariously undercosted for the massive effect it should have terrible stats and/or cost a lot more mana

            October 15, 2018 at 10:43 AM

MCT limits design space as a neutral that should not exist. It removes pressure by existing in shutterwok and often warrior, because if one doesn’t kill them quick, then you are just going to be screwed when they have too much health to burst through. This not only limits aggro, but kills off any viability of midrange as well, if not worse. Its ok for an aggro deck like odd pally to lose a 1/1 on 4. But if a midrange deck loses a lich king on 8, then its just dumb. Its easy to say “just play around it,” but the fact of the matter is that if one does not press, its a 100% loss versus a 25% instant loss. MCT makes oppressive mechanics more oppressive and double dips on rng just winning the game out right.

          October 15, 2018 at 5:03 AM

That’s easier said than done. In certain situations you can, but in others you can’t afford to. With all the other tools that are available for defense, this one can single handily change the outcome of the game. It is not fairly costed and should fall in line with BGH nerf. Still does its effect, but at a higher cost or it should be hall of famed. And as what cointotemgolem said below, with AOE there are certain ways in which you can play around it with a bigger minion or death rattle, you can’t really play around MCT in that essence. It basically rewards your opponent for doing nothing.

Why do you think odd warrior needs to be changed to 3 mana? Play against aggro mage and you know why its like this. Armor out a maly druid and get bursted by a big priest. The most powerfull card in odd warrior is supercollider imo

      • BlueyesOwl
        October 13, 2018 at 7:28 AM

Cause all heroes from odd they gain +1 power on their ability except warrior that gains +2.
Control warrior isn’t weak against aggro, is weak against all other midrange & control decks.
That’s not reasonable to have +2 power on his ability.

        • SkullFire26
          October 13, 2018 at 12:21 PM

Priest gains +2 healing from their upgraded hero power, but their life total caps out at 30 with the exception of Amara Warden of Hope.

          • Grant Thomas Miller
            October 15, 2018 at 10:50 AM

Druid gains +2 as well. It isn’t explicitly terrible.

      • Tweeg
        October 15, 2018 at 4:59 AM

Because 4 armour is super oppressive, especially in the early game. The fact they can do a 4 AOE on 5 mana always is problematic. At least with 3, some minions have a chance of survival. Even with 3-4 minions on board in the early game, it’s like you’re barely denting the warrior and what other choice do you have but to play minions if you are a pressure deck? They already have enough tools in super collider, the dyno-matic, brawl and taunts. Three armour is plenty.

Every upgraded hp doubles the effect of the preupgraded one exept hunters.. i cant see why they should change the warriors hp…. Giggling is nerfable… but still i dont think its too broken…

Giggling is one of the only reasons quest rogue is able to exist right now.

Is really balanced this meta ?!
    Mech’thun is starting to rise…
In my eyes this new clown “Big Priest” is starting, also, to be a biggest trouble.
In past we had only pirate warrior that could kill an oppenent in 4 to 6 turns max, now we have three decks (mage, healock and odd rogue).
Also, druid has 4-5 variants that all using +15 same base cards.
Except giggling that has to be obviously nerfed, there is another card… mctech, it has to go on HoF along with Malygos.
When warlock started to see play as a control and combo deck they desided to let the fking brainless zoo variant to be the best option.
Same goes to Even Lock, kill or be killed before turn 8.
If they fix the all the other things then will not be necessarily need to nerf quest rogue…
Otherwise they need to reroll the quest… (In my opinon the quests were/are the worst cards of all time).
Overall, that’s not balance ladder… This is a clown fiesta ladder.
The game is falling and the number of players keep shrinking….
if you make a fresh new account you will see that in worst !
At rank 50 to 25 there are no players at all and 25 to 5 there are only tier1 decks along with Whizbang’s rng decks that can easly send you to rank5.

      October 11, 2018 at 4:19 PM

      Something that forgot to mention…
      They’ll annoucne nerfs, ok…
But nerfs on HS usually are going live near before goes live an upcoming expansion.
And that means we stay with those problems at least for one more month (season).

Well the people complaining look like they got their wish. I can’t see much wrong with any of the cards atm we have a pretty diverse meta

    • Cointotemgolem
      October 12, 2018 at 9:33 PM

Diverse does not mean healthy, multiple auto-concede matchups is not a healthy meta

Artifact and MTG:A are the best thing that ever happened to Hearthstone

Hearthstone has been content to take a slow and steady approach… they could afford to be conservative and lackadaisical with their upgrades because they had no competition.

    Not anyway.

The complacency of their place in the digital CCG medium is gone. They need to step up.

    Iron sharpens iron.

What is happening with the druid (although I loved it forever) is just a nightmare. How much does he have?
    Consider the minimum of the Druid Star Director: 2 + 6 (0) + 8 + 6 + 0 (2) = 22-24 cards
This is crazy in any language of the world: scheisse, срань, gówno, sranje, merde.
    Worst card of Druid: Psimelon

Really happy to see this. With MtG:A open beta recently out, Artifact coming out too, and the staleness and huge polarity of the meta, I was not having fun playing Constructed in Hearthstone and had started playing other modes and games. Was disappointed when they said they weren’t going to nerf anything. It’s true that the meta is balanced, it’s not like when Cubelock and Even Paladin where the only decks on ladder, but nerfs shake the meta, and it’s not like Giggling Inventor or Ultimate Infestation are fair cards.

    Hoping for:
    * Giggling Inventor -> 6 mana. The card is busted, especially in Arena. Sludge Belcher and Tar Creeper were above average neutral Taunts, but this is on another league of its own. If Mossy Horror or Blood Knight weren’t cards, it would be oppressive in Constructed too. I’m expecting a nerf to 6 mana, since making the main body 1/1 won’t be a noticeable enough nerf, and not spawning two Annoyotrons would kill the “soul” of the card (happened to Patches already, that was a shame, even though it was OP).
    * Ultimate Infestation -> Quest Rogue treatment. Change 5s to 4s. The only sad part is that the flavor text says “Ghouls in the pipe, five by five”. An alternative nerf could be “Deal 5 damage. Summon a 4/4 Ghoul. Draw 3 cards. Gain 2 Armor. Heal your Hero for 1.”
    * Quest Rogue -> Crystal Core now reads “Give minions in your hand and deck +3, +3” -> No more extra value when bouncing your stuff after quest completion, it’s too synergistic.
    * Branching Paths -> Gain 5 armor instead of 6 armor.
    * Warrior’s Tank Up hero power -> Gain 3 armor instead of 4. Aggro decks should have more than 10% a chance to win vs Odd Warrior. Besides, Hunter’s upgraded Hero Power deals 3 damage, not 4. Why the heck does Warrior get 4 instead of 3? Obviously not fair.

    October 11, 2018 at 3:02 AM

    I hope they nerf:
    1. Sonya Shadowdancer cz she is make quest rogue worst with infinite minion
    2. Giggling Inventor cz too strong for 5 mana neutral minion
    3. Carnivourous Cube cz too many deck with cube, maybe can make it refresh
    4. and maybe need nerf one druid card like spreading plague, strongshell scavenger, or branching path

  13. TrungNguyen

pretty much all druid cards and giggling should be nerfed.

Naturalize now costs 0 and draws 4 cards for the opponent. 🙂

        October 11, 2018 at 4:12 AM

that would actually be considered buffing the card LMAO.

possible nerf is branching part armor part to only 4 armor. it’s absolutely crazy to see druid outarmor odd-warrior nowadays

        • GlosuuLang
          October 11, 2018 at 4:47 AM

“that would actually be considered buffing the card LMAO”
I know, that was the joke.

          • Cointotemgolem
            October 12, 2018 at 9:36 PM

Doesn’t get hit by Geist, does more damage if opponent is fatigued, mills more cards if opponent has more than 5 cards in hand costs less mana, immense buff

  14. Madison
    October 10, 2018 at 5:37 PM

I feel like branching paths is lowkey one of the biggest druid enablers, so maybe that one.

    • GlosuuLang
      October 11, 2018 at 2:07 AM

If they nerf that one, probably something like giving 5 armor instead of 6 would be an elegant nerf. The power of the card is its flexibility, not its mana efficiency.

  15. Psylent
    October 10, 2018 at 4:10 PM

Some sort of Odd Warrior nerf would be nice, purely because it’s the most boring **** to play against. If they’re going to touch Druid then I’m not sure how hitting 1 card will work, unless it’s the DK.

    Ultimate Infestation!

please nerf odd warrior..too much winrate for just click the hero power..to dumb

    • doraemon1992
      October 11, 2018 at 4:15 AM

i dont think they will touch odd-warrior much, considering how polarized the deck is.
      VS aggro/midrange = easy win
      VS questrogue/control/toggwagle/mechatun = easy lose

as odd warrior player you can just either play or concede after turn 1, after you see whats your enemy deck. it’s a joke

  18. MrNameless
    October 10, 2018 at 1:19 PM

So, Inventor is not that bad, but if anything I see the CMC up by one only. But overall I was hoping to see something a bit more dramatic…. To many of the same decks on ladder this month so far…

  19. Μάριο Παλούμπο
    October 10, 2018 at 12:16 PM

I loved the part about the potential nerf of a druid card! Singular!!! Let us see… Could it be wild growth, nourish, naturalize, spell stone, spreading plague, branching paths, ultimate infestation or the death knight himself?

    • doraemon1992
      October 11, 2018 at 4:20 AM

highest possibility is branching path i guess, making it gain 4 armor instead of 6. it’s a joke nowadays to see druid outarmor odd-warrior.

spreading plague probably the minion itself, making it 1/3 or 1/4. making the card 7 mana is crazy, druid will never survive any aggro deck.

death knight, i can see that become 8 mana instead of 7.

but i wish they would not touch ramping card like wild growth or nourish. mana ramping is druid identity, and it already get nerf on the 0 mana get 1 mana card (forgot the name)

  20. Amir
    October 10, 2018 at 11:12 AM

They’ll Prob only change it into a 1/1, I don’t believe they’ll change the cost or the annoy-o-trons

    • Pigeon

They will more than likely up the mana cost like they did to possessed lackey.

  21. DukeStarswisher
    October 10, 2018 at 10:16 AM

I’ll be pissed if they actually nerf giggling now after their official statement saying they weren’t going to touch it.

I was saving my duplicates for the nerf but gave up with that announcement.

    • Stonekeep - Site Admin
      October 10, 2018 at 10:37 AM

They didn’t exactly say that they aren’t going to nerf it – they’ve said that they have no plans to do it NOW (~3 weeks ago) but they’re looking at it.

I honestly hope that it gets nerfed, even just for the sake of it. Nerfs always change the meta, which is (at least for me) a big plus.

      • DukeStarswisher
        October 10, 2018 at 1:50 PM

I love nerfs for that reason too. I just think it would be pretty shady to nerf a card that you said you “didn’t have plans for” three weeks prior.

That’s just bad PR imo. And “For now” is always a bs disclaimer. It shouldn’t mean three weeks later.

        • GlosuuLang
          October 11, 2018 at 1:52 AM

They did say they were keeping an eye on Giggling Inventor. You should always keep cards that you know are kinda broken at their core until they rotate to Wild. Patches took a long time to nerf. I’m still holding on to my extra Ultimate Infestation, and maybe it gets hit this time.
