BlizzCon is back after a few years of break and it’s happening in a week! The event is, of course, showcasing all of the Blizzard games, but it looks like there are some special surprises for Hearthstone players.
Hearthstone will appear both during the opening ceremony and “What’s Next?” panel on the main stage on Friday. That’s when the biggest announcements should happen. While it’s been a while, we usually got an initial, short announcement during the opening ceremony and then devs talked more about it during the dedicated Hearthstone panel.
The most interesting part seems to be the “gameplay demo” with “fun, new, and exciting gameplay”. Blizzard might be cooking something big. Maybe a new game mode? Either way, people at BlizzCon will have an opportunity to try it out.
On top of that, some popular streamers will play from the showfloor. Devs will also be ready to take on whoever approaches them – if you wanted to beat a Hearthstone developer, now’s your chance. There’s also a meet and greet arena where Hearthstone streamers/content creators will hang out, as well as three HS dev signing sessions with posters provided (but you can, of course, bring other stuff you want signed).
While you need to be there in person to meet streamers or get something signed by a dev, the whole event will be streamed live for free so that you can watch all the announcements from home. While I would love to be there in person, I will also cover the whole event from home – so if you can’t watch it live for whatever reason, don’t worry, a full recap will be waiting for you here.

Show Schedule
BlizzCon will be bustling with a jam-packed Opening Ceremony, presentations from all your favorite games, and more! Hearthstone fans won’t want to miss the Opening Ceremony or the Hearthstone: What’s Next panel, on the Main Stage on Friday, at 4:30 p.m. (PDT)—including discussion of both Traditional Hearthstone and Battlegrounds. Come meet—and greet—your favorite Hearthstone streamers and content creators in the designated Meet and Greet area!
Duel-a-Dev
The fan favorite is back! Meet one of Hearthstone’s developers and challenge them to a one-on-one face-off, to show them how it’s really done. Duel-a-Dev will be taking place on both days of BlizzCon, in the Warcraft Tavern area, so come on by whenever you’re up for a game!
Developer Signings
After you’ve taken on your favorite dev, catch up with them at one of three dedicated Developer Signing sessions throughout BlizzCon:
- Friday, 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. (PT)
- Friday, 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. (PT)
- Saturday, 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (PT)
Posters will be provided for devs to sign—check in for each signing session, since the groups will change up throughout the show.
Awesome Artists
Sometimes you need the perfect draw. Sometimes you need the perfect drawing! Check out some of your favorite Hearthstone artists in the Artist Nook, open throughout BlizzCon.
