Today is like a gift that keeps on giving… speaking of gifts, earlier in the “Year of the Pegasus” blog post Blizzard announced 12 extra log-in rewards as a part of Hearthstone’s 10th anniversary celebration. They will be given to all players for logging in after Patch 28.6 releases. We didn’t know what those cards were – until now.
Well, we still sort of don’t know in the case of the Hearthstone Innkeeper himself – Harth Stonebrew. While we can read his card text now, it’s not very clear what an “iconic hand from Hearthstone’s past” is. I assume that it will be a hand from one of the iconic decks like Patron Warrior or Freeze Mage, but how will it work exactly? Will it be random? Class-dependant? I guess we’ll have to wait until tomorrow to find out. That’s most likely when the new expansion gets announced, so that’s also when Patch 28.6 will get released.
Other than Harth, we have 11 “Gift” cards – one per class. They are all 1 mana spells that let you Discover a temporary copy of one of three spells. A temporary copy means that it disappears from your hand at the end of your turn, so you have to use it right away. Interestingly, some of those cards aren’t normally accessible in Standard, so those gift cards are the only way to get them.
Note: Wild Growth generated by Malfurion’s Gift costs 2 mana! So we still have a 3 mana Wild Growth in Standard (but better because it’s more flexible). Also, Mind Control generated by Anduin’s Gift will cost 9 mana.
a nice idea, and most of the cards look quite playable at first sight
unfortunately most gifts are just 3 choices out of 4 options: small removal / large removal / global removal / development
Can we talk about the elephant in the room with Anduin’s Gift? How is Mind Control gonna be feasible besides Audio Amplifier and cost reducing effects?
Mind Control generated by Anduin’s Gift will cost 9 mana.
