Recruit is a new keyword coming to Hearthstone in the Kobolds and Catacombs expansion. This Recruit guide will help you understand the ins-and-outs of this new mechanic as well as list all of the cards that feature it, and will eventually feature decks that take advantage of it!

Here’s the official description of Recruit from Blizzard:
Cards with the Recruit keyword immediately summon minions from your deck and put them into play. Some cards recruit minions that match certain conditions; others recruit randomly chosen minions.
The Recruit mechanic is reminiscent of Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound (Recruit doesn’t happen at the end of your turn) but is closer to Desert Camel without the summoning of a minion for your opponent. It is not like Barnes, however, which puts a COPY of the card into play. Recruit actually pulls it out of your deck and into play.
As mentioned in the official description, certain Recruit cards will have conditions. I would expect a Recruit card with Discover to be revealed, and potentially cards like Prince Keleseth that have more deck building limitations. We’ve also seen Guild Recruiter that limits the cost of the card that it summons.
Recruit might make BIG decks (e.g., Big Druid & Big Priest) possible across more classes. For instance, Warrior will be getting Gather Your Party and if the deck is built with only top end minions and removal it could make for an interesting list if it gets a bit more support.
Quick FAQ
- The Recruit keyword will not be added to Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound. – Source

Recruit Mechanic Cards
Here’s a list of all of the currently revealed Recruit cards. We do not currently know how many cards will contain the mechanic and if they will focus on certain classes. In the past, some mechanics were limited to certain classes. C'Thun cards were only given to some of the classes, and in Mean Streets of Gadgetzan they separated classes into gangs with each gang getting a specific style of card/mechanic.
Recruit Mechanic Deck Lists
Decks will be added once the expansion is released, but we might also add some theorycraft decks to get the creative juices flowing!
Why are they not adding the Recruit keyword to Y’Shaarj?
I’d be 10 mana 10/10 at the end of your turn Recruit
