While you may have made it through your bosses with the Cannoneer, Houndmaster, Time-Tinker, and Tracker you have not faced off against your actual final foe! The true final boss in the Monster Hunt is none other than Hagatha the Witch! We will be going through the ins-and-outs of the final boss battle with tips & tricks and all the information you will need to triumph in this final showdown in The Witchwood.
Hagatha the Witch’s Hero Power & Info
- Health: 100
- Hero Power: Bewitch (Passive) – After you play a minion, add a random Shaman spell to your hand.
You start off as Houndmaster Shaw and are given three hero cards (think Death Knight cards) that allow you to switch to one of the other monster hunters! Each time you play one of these, you are then given another three options to pick from as a passive, five armor, and they do AOE damage to the board. You are also given three passive options to choose from when you first start the game that will give you a buff throughout your fight with Hagatha.
- Toki, Time-Tinker (3 Mana) – Battlecry: Deal 3 damage to all minions and choose a Passive Treasure.
- Darius Crowley (5 Mana) – Battlecry: Deal 5 damage to all minions and choose a Passive Treasure.
- Tess Greymane (8 Mana) – Battlecry: Deal 8 damage to all minions and choose a Passive Treasure.

How-to Defeat Hagatha the Witch
The treasures you select apply for the rest of the fight and all of the heroes over time. Your initial deck is not nearly large enough to finish off Hagatha, that is not something you should be concerned about: every time you swap to a different hero, a set of new cards will appear in your deck alongside whatever else you still have left, ensuring that you won’t just automatically lose to fatigue. Changing heroes also shuffles extra cards into your deck instead of removing the ones specific to the hero that you haven’t drawn yet, so that’s also something you won’t have to worry about during this fight.
Hagatha’s Ritual Dagger starts out as a 2 mana 3/4 Lifesteal weapon and it also gains extra durability for every single spell she casts, meaning you shouldn’t think about rushing down this final boss – especially considering how she has more than one of them, though Toki’s Blingtron 3000 can potentially help you get rid of one of them.. The challenge here is to outvalue all the free spells she gains from the passive hero power. Thankfully, the little quirks of the Hearthstone AI and some… interesting card choices are there to help you out: for all her dastardly plans, Hagatha didn’t yet seem to realize that Duskfallen Aviana is an incredibly bad card to use, meaning you will always have a swing turn to rely on at some point as the game progresses. It’s also beyond its understanding that Lord Godfrey might not be optimal to play on an empty board. Basically, even if you’re behind, just hang in there: in the Witchwood, anything is possible!
It is possible to beat the boss without using all the heroes, but this extra little challenge really isn’t necessary on your first attempt: dying without using all your heroes is like going out in Who Wants to be a Millionaire without using the three lifelines: it’s a wasted opportunity. Swapping at opportune moments will guarantee you a board clear as part of the cards, and it also allows you to pick an extra treasure. By now, you should have a good idea about which monster hunter you prefer out of the bunch: still, the mana cost of each of them is a rough indicator of what you should perhaps be expecting from them. Tess is the one that will eventually allow you to go toe to toe with Hagatha’s spell generation, so you should generally plan on using her as your “final form”. Again, this is not at all necessary to win the fight, but it will make your life easier – especially considering how you are very likely to face a beatdown in the early turns due to Hagatha’s mana advantage. Since Shaw’s initial deck is fairly slow, something you can reliably do is to play Toki on turn 8 and get Double Time just before you play Call of the Wild – it’s an excellent way to punch back. Watch out for Amalgamate though: it’s a nasty spell that destroys all of your minions and summons one for Hagatha with all of their combined stats: don’t overcommit unless you’ve got an answer for that.
Keep in mind that Hagatha’s hero power inherently makes this a high-variance battle, so don’t lose hope if it takes a few attempts to get through the gauntlet of random Shaman spells. Sometimes you will get high-rolled: just enjoy the craziness! It shouldn’t take too many attempts to get through it all, but do keep in mind that the expected length of this litte tussle is quite a lot longer than what a regular ranked game would take, especially with all the dialogue that’s involved!
Card Back Reward
If you’ve managed to defeat Hagatha the Witch then you will earn yourself this sweet Monster Hunt card back!
I got it first try!
I changed heroes really fast because i needed that early game board clears but somehow it worked out. Then i kept discovering “summon all 3 animal companions” spell with tess hero power (1 mana can use twice) and because i had first spell trigger twice treasure it was tons of damage!
Mastering the appropriate question to ask is actually far more important than having a ready answer. Sound questions challenge your planning. Studies are quite unambiguous that we value people who take note of us. Our mission and aims are certainly centrally who we are and who we need to be. In the simplest of terms, power questions are our tool for helping to see the true inescapable fact around us as opposed to murky delineations of it. Ask elementary questions about the things which everybody else takes for certain. People are willing to forgive. They want to have a great discussion together with you. We do things for a lot of different reasons. When you ask somebody as to what accommodates them, it opens the doorway to exploring something which is constantly very special for this person. It may be a magical moment in time for others once you encourage them to talk about their hopes and dreams with you. Occasionally you don’t need to provide guidance.
Ok so this is not a strategy; I just got REALLY lucky and wanted to share. I used the Blingtron 3000 to destroy her Ritual Dagger, and lucked out in giving her Aluneth!!
Since everytime she plays a minion she gains a spell, her hand was almost always full, and she kept burning her cards as she dree those three more at the end of every turn!!
I got the deathrattle bonus, the two hero powers per turn one, the +3 spellpower and the cost reduction for the canon dude.
I kept discovering a copy of warpath to deal 4 damage to all minions for 2 mana exho and all I had to do was take down her minions and wait for her to die of fatigue!! She even burned her second Ritual Dagger! I don’t think I’ll ever do that again!
Sorry!
As for Toki, i had used ‘Cast your first spell on a Turn a second time’
i had beat Hagatha on the third try. it got really easy after Tess came on!
what i did was:
started out as houndmaster. picked ‘first aid kit’ for passive.
within few turns, when saw that the minions are difficult to overcome and most of them with 3 lives, i switched to toki.
short while later to canoneer, and picked minions get +2 health.
few turns later tess with Cult of wolf for passive.
cleared rest of Hagatha 86 HP with Tess.
spells picked for Tess hero power is mostly resummon on kodorider and the hex for high minions from Hagatha.
with kodorider, everytime i use Tess heropower it summons a 3/5 war kodo. its like having constant flow of minions.
and hex on hand to really to bring down her high powered minions, especially amalgamation.
but… amalgamation never came. ??
I got her on the 3rd try. Ended up picking Blizzard over and over with double cast each turn. Mixed in some Healing Rain every once in a while along with other low cost helper spells whenever the other two didn’t come up. She ended up going to fatigue and then I started playing minions and killed her in a few turns.
i beat it on my second try its not as hard as i expect it to be mostly because hagatha waste some spell like amalgamation on my board which only give it 3 health and volcano spell on one arcane giant and the battle is a walk in the park once you got board control, unlock tess and then spam call of the wild +hero power (it is a 10 mana combo if you get cult of wolf) so you could spam this every turn and with double time from toki you could fill the board every turn and just wittle down you opponent health
Greetings,
I love how: “Just play call of the wild and then replay it twice every turn after” is the tip.
With Tess you get a selection of three spells that were cast during the game by both, so including Hagatha.
Thus, you will not always have Call of the Wild as a selection.
In fact, rarely, as she casts shaman spells nearly every turn. Those of you who “easily” defeated her with something like that were lucky. You do get that, right?
I’ve restarted matches against her many times till I finally “also by mere luck” made it through.
Stating it’s too easy would mean you can repeat a victory against her every time you start a match. Please do so 🙂
Very easy guide:
1. hard mulligan for call of the wild
2. pick +1 mana passive
3. play toki time tinkerer and pick double time buff, making your spells get double casted
4. play darius crowskin and pick any buff, doesn’t matter
5. play some of your midgame deathrattle threats like highmane to bait out “amalgamate”, which destroys your whole board and summons a minion with the combined stats – likely to be played turn 8
6. clean up the amalgamation using your deathrattle remains and tess graymane. Pick the hero power buff that lets you hero power twice a turn for 1 mana.
7. play call of the wild. It will be cast twice due to double time effect.
8. use your hero power to discover another call of the wild. play it
9. rinse and repeat – you will always have at least 6 animal companions on board. GG
Really good tip with that combo Double-Spell Cast treasure and Call of the Wild! I have beat Hagatha on my first try using that combo!
Awesome strat killed her first try.
Thx
I had a hard time with running low on life on this strat, so I subbed the free mana crystal with +2 health to friendlies each turn. A little harder at the beginning, but the end was much more comfortable.
Thanks for sharing this got it on my 2nd attempt cheers!
All were super easy… Tess and Houndmaster beat in first try.
Hagatha beaten in second try.
Hearthstone u made it too easy
Bullshit!
Not for me. It took me about 15 attempts to beat Hagatha!
I would have preferred the treasures to be random in the Hagatha fight, though. It always gives you the same ones.
Evil toki got destroyed, I was able to play the quest twice because I had the secret up to copy opponents speel and make it cost 0 lmao. I actually tried to see how long she could stay alive
always make sure to have some taunts in front of you & execute ready all the time (easy with tracker) just in case of the amalgam spell, the hagatha i win against used that spell after my double call of the wild!
Picked Lunar Signet (I think that’s what it’s called; the Deathrattle one :p), Double Time, and Weapon treasure on Cannoneer. Didn’t even need to use the Tracker. Just get ahead on board, Double up on Call of the Wild, make sure you don’t play into the Amalgam spell. Took me two tries: one in which I lost because I had no idea she used the Amalgam spell (still think it’s out of character, but aw well), and one to win after she Amalgam’d two 3/3’s. Of course Hagatha might’ve gotten screwed on her spells, but idk (she used up all four charges of Ritual Dagger without playing spells, so I reckon that’s it).
Tbh had an infinitely harder time beating the Toki run lol
This. Double time on call of the wild is insanely good, especially if you get hero power buffs. Just rediscover call of the wild each round and play it again – infinite value.
Side note: make sure to bait out amalgamate with midrange minions – otherwise she will get a 34/30 when she swallows your double call of the wild board.
Toki was tough until I got two double time passives and the mage quest. If you play the mage quest spell first, you then get 3 extra turns.
Hagatha will always draw Mistcaller on Turn 6.
The best passives to choose are:
First Aid Kit – Pillage the Fallen – ‘Cast your first spell on a Turn a second time’ – Sticky Fingers
Best thing to do is using Tracker last because you will need the Heropower.
yeah, infinite toki harder than hagatha
Hagatha seemed quite a bit easier than evil Toki.
Toki is easy just get a counter spell at 9 mana and its done.
best passive is cast first spell twice. it will give you alot of cards to answer the problems she put into play.
Hagatha was just a long fight but had fun 🙂
lol Toki is REALLY easy. She reset the game once, yet i killed her first try.
The run with toki was literally the easiest.
I had 100 wins on houndmaster, before i killed the witch..
She smoced me down a couple times and I lost to the 7th agro druid boss a couple times too. Took me 9 runs to get to agatha and 5 of those were Toki. The hero power just didn’t seem as broken as the others.
I kept trying the cap creature cost at 5 deck with multiple lich kings and yshaarj though for some reason.
I just finished Infinite Toki this morning, which was my last hunter to complete the hunt. Played Blingtron 5000 and got lucky as she ended up with Aluneth and I milled her to death. She burned her restart card and Clockwork Assistant. Ez win gg thx blizz
