“Feast of Winter Veil” Hearthstone In-Game Event Guide, How To Unlock All The Free Rewards

A new in-game Hearthstone event has just launched. It’s called “Feast of Winter Veil” and it lasts for 21 days (until January 2 at 10 AM PT / 19:00 CET). It means that you have plenty of time to complete enough tasks to get all of the new rewards.

This is another mixed event with Quests and rewards both from regular Hearthstone and Battlegrounds. It’s still mainly focused on regular, but Battlegrounds Quests give you enough XP to get you to the middle reward (BG Hero skin).

Check out a full list of rewards, Quests, and tips & tricks below.

Rewards List

There are 5 different reward tiers:

  • 100 Event XP – 1x Standard Card Pack
  • 500 Event XP – 2x Signature Ravenous Kraken
  • 1000 Event XP – Battlegrounds Hero Skin – Greatfather Thorim
  • 2250 Event XP – 2x Signature Angry Helhound
  • 3000 Event XP – 1x Standard + 1x Badlands Card Pack

Summing up all the rewards gives us three card packs, two different Signature cards (4 copies in total) and one Battlegrounds skin. Here’s the close-up of cosmetics:

How To Unlock All Rewards

In order to unlock all 5 reward tiers, you need to get 3000 event XP. But how hard is that, exactly? How much do you need to play in order to do it?

There are three ways to earn XP in those events. Here’s how the system works:

  • Quest Chain – Most of the XP comes from the main Quest Chain. Or in this case Quest Chains – there’s one for Constructed (2800 XP in total) and one for Battlegrounds (1000 XP in total). You can’t finish all of the tasks at once, you can only do one per day. After you finish one, the next unlocks with the daily Quest reset. Keep that in mind, because it means that you can’t rush through all of the tasks, you need to spread them over a few days.
  • Daily Quests – On top of the main Quest Chain, players get extra, usually pretty simple Daily Quests. In this case, they give you either 50 XP or 100 XP. You can reroll them once per day like the regular Quests. Trying to reroll 50 XP ones into better ones is a good strategy, but keep in mind that rerolling the higher XP one will always give you a lower XP one. Since this event features two Quests chains, the regular Daily Quests are gone. They will only appear in place of one of the Quests chains after you finish it.
  • XP for playing – And finally, players get extra XP simply for playing the game. The exact rate is unknown, but players estimate it at around 40-45 XP per hour. So, for example, a 7-minute Constructed match would give you around 5 XP, while a 25-minute Battlegrounds match would give you around 18 XP.

So now that we know how the XP is earned, let’s see how much you need to complete this event. The entire Constructed Quest Chain gives you 2800 XP – and that almost puts you over the finish line. All you need to do is get 200 XP either from Battlegrounds Quest Chain or from playing the game. Given that 200 XP is around 5 hours of play time, you will more than likely rake up that much during the time you spend on the quest. So you don’t really need ot do anything else other than completing main tasks.

However, if you are a Battlegrounds player, finishing the whole event won’t be that easy. BG Chain gives you only 1000 XP… but that’s exactly enough to get the only Battlegrounds reward of the event – Greatfather Thorim skin. However, if you want to finish the entire event and get the other rewards, you will need to either play Constructed for the other Quest Chain… or play a lot of Hearthstone. 2000 XP is around 50 hours of play time (so ~2.5h per day over the course of the event).

All in all, the event is really easy to complete. All you need to do is finish the main Quest Chain (which is really easy) and that’s pretty much it. If you’re a Battlegrounds player, the main Quest Chain will get you to the only Battlegrounds reward, so if you’re satisfied with that, you can ignore the rest of the event.
