(More info about 19.2.1 Balance Update here.)
A lot of players have been asking why Edwin got nerfed now instead of rotating it to Hall of Fame, especially since the annual Hall of Fame rotation is pretty close (it always happens before the first expansion of the year, which would be roughly 2 months from now).
Senior Game Designer Alec Dawson has confirmed on Twitter that Edwin will STILL rotate out to Hall of Fame, with its nerf reverted. And it won’t be the only reverted nerf – Blizzard has already mentioned that they plan to HoF + revert some of the nerfs, but so far Edwin is the only card that was officially confirmed.
Also sorry this didn’t get into the notes but: Yes Edwin will still rotate later this year and yes we will be reverting the nerf (along with others) at that time.

As Devs mentioned, there won’t be any more compensation for Edwin when he get HoFed later.
So, the best you can do is, if you don’t play any rogue deck, or don’t play in Wild, dust it now and get those 3200 dust. Sad.
sorry, 1600 dust
They should really get out of the habit of having nerfed cards that they revert later. Very sloppy. Design new cards if you don’t want something to go through nerf/buff phases or don’t bother reverting later or just let them go until rotation. I assume they won’t revert the knuckles when it goes wild.
so dont dust it 🙂
Dust it now, craft golden before rotation for extra 1600 dust (assuming you dust golden copy after roatation)
Thank you!
Craft golden: -3200 dust
Dust golden after rotation: +3200 dust
How exactly do you get extra 1600 out of that?
I will personally dust it now for 1600, because there is a tiny chance that I open him from a classic pack you get from Tavern Brawls before he rotates.
u get 1600 if u disentchant him
Dust regular copy now (full refund for being nerfed) +1600
Craft golden: – 3200
HOF Rotation compensation for golden: +3200
Disenchant golden after rotation: +1600
Profit: 3200 dust
If you wait until rotation with regular copy (instead of dusting now) you will get 1600 for hof compensation and another 400 if you disenchant after, so net profit of 2000 dust
Oh I see… I forgot that rotations work differently than nerfs. You get dust compensation, but you keep the card. And then you can disenchant it after for net profit… Thanks for clarifying.
But its still best to disenchant the regular one right now if you have couple of classic packs to try to get lucky.
You won’t be able to open Edwin unless you own all other classic legendaries because of duplicate protection
oh, yep i will do that, i plan to dust him at rotation (i still have rag and sylv and i think it was a mistake to not dust them).
Why mistake? You can still disenchant and use the cards. How is that not optimal?
Unless you were going to dust then make the golds. I happen to have gold Sylv & Rag due to luck so I didn’t have to dust.
Exactly xD
