Update: It turns out that the pre-release list of cards we had wasn’t complete. Each pool had a few more cards – we’ve added a total of 13 new cards compared to the original list. The new data was provided by Firestone, thank you!
The original Zephrys the Great is still one of the most innovative cards we’ve ever seen – offering you different cards based on the game state (minions on board, health total of players, number of cards in your hand). Because of often giving you a perfect answer to your current problem, he still sees common play in the Wild format.
And guess what? A new version has launched in The Traveling Travel Agency mini-set. However, despite sharing a similar effect, Dreamplanner Zephrys is not as smart as the original. Instead of doing all the calculations, he simply has three static pools of cards. When playing him, you pick between “cards that can potentially spend a lot of Mana”, “cards that can potentially deal damage to the enemy hero” and “cards that can potentially impact the enemy’s battlefield”.
Picking any of those options simply gives you two random cards from a static pool of cards. There’s no looking at the mana available, at how big minions your opponent has, and so on. At the same time, in order to make the card a little bit more consistent, Blizzard has removed a lot of “dead” and heavily situational options.
Below, we’ve gathered all of the cards you can get from each pool so you know what you can get. The info is now based on the actual, in-game data. However, as with all the things in Hearthstone, it’s subject to change – we’ll update the list if Blizzard decides to add/remove some of the cards.
Extravagant Tour – “Spend Mana”
Update: Added Earth Elemental, Nourish, Sprint, Cairne Bloodhoof, Gorehowl and Natalie Seline.
This pool consists mostly of expensive cards you can play proactively. Pick it if you don’t need to deal face damage to your opponent or clear their board.
Hectic Tour – “Damage Enemy Hero”
Update: Added Rockbiter Weapon, Bloodlust, Doomhammer, King Krush and Pyroblast.
This pool consists mostly of damage cards. Most of them are straight-up burn spells, but we also have a few minions with Charge.
Modest Tour – “Impact Enemy’s Battlefield”
Update: Added Acidic Swamp Ooze and Shadow Word: Death.
This pool consists of board clears – mostly AoE, but there are also a few single-target options.
Good to know. 🙂
Hm. If mana, board state etc. isn’t considered, I wonder why they made him so complicated by offering multiple cards that practically do the same.
