Mulligans
General Mulligans
1 drops are OP
The Goal with this deck is first and foremost Zoo. The ideal opening hand would be Quest and two 1 drops, so you can open with 1, 1+1, Tap 1, with the Quest weaved in there somewhere. Depending on the matchup, mulliganing the Quest to either complete in the late game or ignore entirely is recommended. The one copy of catacylsm is icluded for the possibility of immediately completeing the quest in the late game if you mulliganed it by playing Quest + Cataclysm on a turn with 6 High Priestess Jeklik’s (or 5 + 1 Zavas) in hand.
A possibly contentious decision is the inclusion of Countess Ashmore and Swift Messenger. Ashmore functions as essentially a 2nd out to draw Jeklik, since Jeklik is the only Lifesteal in the deck. Messenger draws itself for free somewhere probably around 30% of the time (not including the times you don’t draw it) and isn’t necessarily a bad card to begin with. The only other competitive Rush minions (Scalehide and Zilliax) have Lifesteal which can block Jeklik.
