Aluneth, no. It is a pretty unique effect and is pretty much your late game strategy. You hit them with small creatures and explosive runes in the early game to keep the board fairly clear and then you run out of steam around turn 6 or 7. Aluneth draws you into the burn to finish them off.
Not sure about Loatheb. I don’t have him and I’m not crafting him just for this.
Aluneth is mandatory for this deck. You need the extra burn-cards every turn to finish the game quickly. Its also one of the best mage-legendaries available. its a long-term investment if you like playing mage often.
Loatheb isnt that important, i would say. i go without him and hit rank 3 last season. I run arcane intellect on this spot, because sometimes some carddraw is important and you dont have the luxury of always getting aluneth in the middle/late game. Maybe you could also go for a primordial, but as roffle said, in wild there are too many mage spells you get and that makes it weaker than in standard.
Deck of wonders are crap, because its too slow and too randomly and it can also hurt yourself! In wild even weaker…
I piloted the Deck today to Rank 5. Its just awesome with the forgotten Torches. You have more than enough power to go face after losing to the board. I even go without Loatheb, because im a bit stingy with the crafting-costs and i guess most, who are short on dust, will do it too. His effect is good, but a bit situational to be worse 1600 dust. Never missed his effect.
I would agree, that Duplicate is debatable, as it is sometimes a dead card, especially when you get manawyrm as copies, but its often like a good replacement for carddraw, as you have more minions on hand to play and thats good for fighting aggro-paladin. I have good wins vs pala. Just make sure you exchange hard as good vs his minions. You should also consider how you best place your duplicate. Think before you play it to get nice duplicates like 2 0-Mana Crystal Runners or 2 valets and valet-copies are just awesome sometimes.
Never had the problem of a full-hand. Dont know what you do wrong. : )
why not Firelands Portal please ? Too slow for this ? I run 2x Firelands Portal in standart version of this and it seems to be ok…and soon will be wild too 🙂
With so many Secrets and your disposal and the availability of Loatheb, Firelands Portal doesn’t quite make the cut. It’s not a bad card by any means, but a little slow for the new Aluneth builds, especially in Wild.
I’ve updated the list based on what I’ve been finding success with this season. 2x Duplicates are probably the lone debated/contested spot in the list. Primordial Glyph is the most common contender for that spot, but the inconsistency of a large card pool in Wild makes it too unreliable, IMO.
I like to throw in 1 Deck of Secrets just as an “11th Hour” option with Aluneth.
Deck of Wonders**
Just wondering if there are any good replacements for lothab and aluneth?

Mate why i cant do much with this deck? Most of the time my hand is full cauz of duplicates? Thanks.
Forgotten Torch seems to be better than arcane intellect as a replacement for Corridor Creeper.
Also, isn’t 8 secrets too many?
Hi,

As a replacement for our dearly departed Corridor Creeper?
I’ve been running Forgotten Torch in that spot, but haven’t tested enough games to say for certain what the best option is yet.
Any updates on the play testing of this list? Stupid question, but is this the best mage list in wild?

What would you replace for loatheb? maybe ice block?
