Mulligans
General Mulligans
You want early game to start taking the board. The book also activates Mountain Giant and helps you find some early game. Make sure to save Polymorph against Druid to shut down Hadronox though you usually toss it in the mull anyway.
An elemental mage deck featuring Toki and Mountain Giant. The deck plays like a tempo deck, but with some strong combos that lead to crazy turns. For example, if you combo Archmage Arugal with Book of Specters You essentially fill your hand, and if you happen to copy a mountain giant you get to drop a couple 3 mana 8/8’s. Even if you don’t pull off the combo however, there are a ton of cards that give +-0 card advantage because they add a card when played. Additionally, Lesser Ruby Spellstone offers an alternative way to refill your hand for the giants. Leyline Manipulator allows for some crazy turns and since you end up generating so many cards he is very rarely just a 4 mana 4/5. Through play testing this deck has a near 60% winrate, so if you want a viable deck that isn’t the same garbage everyone else is playing on ladder, here ya go.
I tried a deck similar to this when the expansion launched, but I like yours better. I had problems with my hand overflowing, and although I had my concerns about the same issue with your deck, it hasn’t come too close yet. My last couple games were very mixed. Against odd paladin, I could not keep up with clearing his board. However against what I believe to have been a taunt druid, the deck performed quite well and was fun.
Here is a replay for anyone interested in seeing how the deck may play. No Mountain Giants in this round, or fancy combos. But it was a solid win by a mile.
