Mulligans
General Mulligans
1- and 2-Drops are generally what you want in hand.
If going first, keeping a 2-drop and to mulligan the rest away is fine, although you rly want a 1-drop to play right away!
If you go second, it's fine to keep multiple 2-drops
Always throw back patches!
Always keep weapon with pirate, or deathrattle with Undertaker.
Aggro Mulligans
If you are on the coin, keeping Explosive Trap, or Quickshot is okay, too.Let shivers of forgotten nightmares run down your opponents spine, with this freshly exhumed blast from the past!
Hey guys, TreeH0GGER here. This is my first deck-submission at HS-Topdecks. I reached Legend-Rank for the first time in Oktobre 2k16, using C4mlann’s Secret Face Hunter list. I’m a Hunter and Druid main, and have been steady rank 5+ each season since, using mostly these classes, even in a meta where they’re not favored.
I grinded the last 60 wins towards my golden Hunter in season 34, using exclusively this decklist. Had fun SMOrcing with it in 2k17, and thought it would be nice to share the list with you. In my opinion, in the current Wild meta, the Undertaker-Facehunter definitely has it’s place. There is a more secret focused variance of Pirate-Facehunter floating around, including Cloaked Huntress. For me personally, the Undertaker-variance feels more solid altogether, though. Unfortunately, i don’t use a tracker, so i’m not able to compare the two lists directly. Even after its nerf, the Undertaker provides you with a snowbally early-game minion, that demands immediate removal from your opponent. It provides the deck with another earlygame-plan and wincondition, besides Small-Time Buccaneer . If going first, Undertaker into 2-drop trades nicely into opponents STB. And STB into Glaivezooka is just nuts!
Card Substitutions: The amount of 2-mana cards is pretty high in the deck. If you want to swap something out, i would recommend cutting a Kindly Grandmother. You can also try out different secret-packages, Snake Trap, Snipe and Bear Trap can be played around with. I would not recommend to play more than a total amount of 4 secrets in this variance of the deck, though. If you feel like it, cutting one of the secrets is possible, too. Cat Trick is a rly great secret against spell-based decks, but it’s terrifyingly weak against Pirate-Warrior, and you face a lot of them in Wild (so i only play it as a one-of).
Cards that would warrant inclusion are second Southsea Deckhand, Argent Horserider and Hunter's Mark as a tech choice. I don’t think that you need more than one copy of Unleash the Hounds in the current meta. Tracking is another card i like to play in Facehunter, but i think there is not enough space in the deck to include it. If you run into a lot of Pirate-Warriors, you can think about teching in Acidic Swamp Ooze or even Bloodsail Corsair. As a substitute for Leeroy Jenkins, i would try second Deckhand or a Horserider.
General advice for playing the deck: Always plan ahead to maximise your damage-output for the coming turns. To do this, value your Hero-Power as high as playing another card from your hand, and maximise your “Hero-Power-Economy”. Try to start hero-powering as soon as you are in control of the early board (usually around the turns 3-5) and play as mana-efficient as possible. In the early-game, you want to build board and protect it from your opponents minions. When entering the Midgame, remember the golden rule, that, when in doubt -> go face. Your opponent will succumb to a combination of chip-damage done by hero-powering, beatdown damage through your minions, and burst damage from Leeroy and spells, usually around the turns 5-7.
If demanded, i can add a more in-depth guide.
If you have questions regarding the decklist, card substitutions or
playstyle of the deck, feel free to ask them in the comments.
I hope you have fun playing the deck, and let the SMOrc be with you!
