Mulligans

Hello there, I’m Tower607 and this is my new Rotface Dragon Warrior deck.

Dragon Package

  • Netherspite Historian Auto include with every dragon based deck. What dragon you choose is dependent upon your matchup. In a slower game you can pick a large dragon as an activator for the other dragons in your hand. Alexstrasza and Primordial Drake are good picks. If you drop the Historian on 2 you can look for a 3-4 drop to fill out your curve against more aggressive decks. Book Wyrm is a great pick against mage if you think you’re going to see a Doomsayer later in the game.
  • Twilight Drake Great to play on curve after a draw or two. Solid stats and the 4 attack is always great against Priest.
  • Cobalt Scalebane This card has been an allstar for me. Playing it on 5 after you have a Twilight Drake or Saronite Chain Gang stick on the board is awesome. It can also turn a measly Netherspite Historian into a formidable minion for your opponent.
  • Book Wyrm Dragon removal. Great for getting rid of Doomsayer against Mages and Jade Bohemoth against Druids.
  • Primordial Drake Solid taunt and board clear. Combos well with Sleep with the Fishes
  • Ysera Solid late game dragon. This is one of the tech spots in the deck.

Removal PAckage

These cards all play off each other. Mix and match as needed to clear your opponents board.

A common mistake I make is playing a minion before using one of the damage effects. Friendly reminder to think our your turns and slow down when making decisions!

CARD DRAW and TAUNTS

ROTFACE and MINDBREAKER!

  • Rotface This card has won me a few games. You can use Whirlwind for an immediate impact, and don’t forget about the Blood Razor deathrattle!
  • Mindbreaker frustrates the hell out of your opponents. Its essentially a taunt that forces your opponent to clear it and the 5 health make it a good target for Bonemare. Playing it with Saronite Chain Gang late in the game can really cause problems for people.

TECH CHOICES

I consider Ysera to be the tech spot at this point. Consider these cards instead:

  • Skulking Geist You can tech this in if you’re seeing a lot of Druids. I don’t know how common they’ll be after the upcoming nerfs. Don’t forget it will clear out your Whirlwind.
  • Mortal Strike I’ll be honest, I haven’t really tested this card… but there have been quite a few games where i really wish I had an extra 4 or 6 damage to clear out a taunt of finish off my opponent. Let me know if it works for you.
  • Scourgelord Garrosh Gives you some late game armor and the new hero power combos will with your removal cards and  Rotface.

PLAY STRATegy

  • Early Game: Looking for Netherspite Historian, and your board clears. We want to survive the first few turns so we can play Saronite Chain Gang or Twilight Drake into Cobalt ScalebaneBlood Razor is a good early draw.
  • Late Game: RotfaceBonemare, and Primordial Drake should help to stabilize the board.
  • Against aggro decks like Pirate Warrior, Murloc Paladin, and even evolve shaman and midrange hunter we want to play defensively and just try to survive. If we can eliminate the early threats we can build a board of taunts and legendaries to finish off the game.
  • Against control or combo decks like Exodia Mage, Jade Druid, and Highlander Priest we want to be the aggressor. Try to build out a board of minions as quick as possible.

I was looking for a fun deck to present during my next stream. I was just wondering how you use mindbreaker in the deck. I mean what’s the use for it? I don’t mean to tell you it’s bad but you must have put it there for a reason, I wanted to know your point of view.

I initially added it because I was facing nonstop highlander priest and I wanted to screw with their win condition. I then found it to be useful against Rogue in the early game and against Mage after they play DK Jaina so I kept it in the deck. As one of the other comments below mentioned, Frothing Beserker would be a good replacement if you don’t agree with its inclusion.

    Did you try frothing berserker?

I havent, but it could be a good addition. I’ve heard from some players that they aren’t fans of mindbreaker, so it could be a replacement there. Thanks for the suggestion.

How has it been going with this deck? Whats the percentage?

It’s been going great so far! I haven’t played enough games to justify posting a percentage. I just made this deck this morning and climbed from rank 10 and 0 stars to rank 8 and 4 stars before taking a break to write up and share the deck. I’m hoping my early success will lead to others making some meaningful improvements. Thanks for checking it out.
