“Spiteful Big Spell” Mage  — guide by TinSonSay

Mulligan:

– The only card you’re really looking for here is Prince Keleseth. My mulligan recommendation is actually to send everything back looking for him. There are enough 3-cost and 4-cost cards in the deck that even with a mulligan strategy as aggressive as this you still end up with decent hands in the event you miss Keleseth.

Gameplay:

– This deck plays a lot like the popular meta deck it’s a variant of, except it’s packed full of midgame threats.

– Bright eyed scout: this deck has plenty of positive targets for the scout’s mana reduction to hit. Of these targets, Frost Lich Jaina and Spiteful Summoner are generally the highest impact targets.

– Zola, the Gorgon: Zola’s function in this deck is easy to see. It’s best target is usually Prince Keleseth in the early game and Astromancer/Spiteful Summoner in the mid and late-game.

Pitfalls:

As always in my deck deck guides, I like to point out some of the pitfalls of the deck. By pitfalls I mean the ways for the deck to really fail at what it’s intended to do. These are things to watch out for…

– The deck sports a relatively high mana curve. Because of this some hands don’t allow for much play in the early turns and it falls behind. Fortunately, this deck has plenty of AoE tools and comeback potential in the form of Frost Lich Jaina.

– Wait for Spiteful to finish summoning before passing/proceeding with your turn, as summoning minions that influence your turn is common.
