I use a similar deck that I grabbed off one of your competitor’s sites, except it runs Leeroy for extra finishing power. http://i.imgur.com/2R2ovSo.png
Seems like you don’t understand the real purpose of Patches. It’s not the 1 damage, not the charge effect, not the fact, that it’s played for free. It’s the effect of playing potentially with 29 cards instead of 30. That also means a more consistent chance of drawing good cards.
Actually, Hobart is way too slow. Pirate Warrior is not minion based. We aren’t Face Hunters. If some want a more minion based approach, search for Pirate Dragon lists
Patches is better. The big thing he does is help ensure you have a pirate the turn after, letting your deck ramp off pirate effects. People are burning huge spells to kill off early pirates and prevent ramping.
I’m not certain if this is better than the other responses, but I subbed in Leeroy because I am also missing Greenskin. Just a fun card to play, has ended the game a few times.
I used Skycap’n Kragg. Even if he’s in my opening hand, I usually have a good enough board to get him on turn 4. He’s even better when he gets buffed by Grimy Gadgeteer.

How do we have to use patches with this deck?
Is Patches or Hobart better? I only have the dust for one. Also what would be the replacement for what I don’t make?
I am pretty sure Patches is better, but maybe other people have an opinion on it.
Hobart is better IMO. Patches is just early pressure but doesn’t necessarily win games

Patches is way better. I (along with many others) don’t even run Hobart, he’s too slow imo
Substitute for greenskin?
Second upgrade possibly? i havent play tested this so i dont know if that would work
Second upgrade! work well

Grimestreet Pawnbroker maybe?
