This one is particularly annoying because you get absolutely punished for having minions in the deck because of The Hunted. So the best way to go about beating The Lich King is either with Lock and Load and a bunch of spells which is an iffy proposition, or you can hopefully get to a turn where you can play Deathstalker Rexxar and win the game that way. The way I did it, is I kept restarting until I got Barnes to roll me Y’Shaarj into Y’Shaarj into Ragnaros!
Mulligan
A common theme for these decks is that you need your friend Barnes. Restart until you have him in your opening hand. If you start out with him, look to keep Animal Companion or Bear Trap.
The Lich King – Hunter Play Strategy
The easiest way you’ll win is by Barnes rolling Y’Shaarj, Rage Unbound, into himself, and then into Ragnaros the Firelord the following turn. If you have Deathstalker Rexxar he belongs in this deck (I don’t have him). If you don’t just finish him with those big minions, Lock and Load is a secondary option for you to use which can gain you enough firepower to eventually finish off TLK. Chakki used a similar build to this, but instead of Ragnaros he went with a more Deathrattle-centric build that uses Sneed's Old Shredder with Feign Death and Play Dead. That’s another option, but rolling the Barnes/Y’Shaarj/Ragnaros combo is almost a guaranteed win and could be all you need.
Do NOT use Tracking before you play Barnes on turn four, you are likely to either draw Y’Shaarj or Ragnaros which ruins the combo. If you draw one of those cards in the first four turns before you play Barnes then just restart.
All spells/cards for this deck are pretty much optional and can be replaced with whatever as long as you have the three minions!
I simply ran the half the murloc neutral set, keeping only the important ones and then filled the rest with hunter traps. Worked perfect first try

This deck is much better. Mulligan for 1 drops, but prioritize molten giants. Won with my 5th try.
1st try, tnx
Beat it on my first try with this deck. Thanks.
Won in the 5th
Tks!!!
First try thanks
Not only did I waste 1200 dust crafting Y’Shaarj for nothing… but this deck doesn’t work. Barnes into Y’shaarj into Y’Shaarj DOES NOT then summon Ragnaros. It ends at the 10/10 Y’Shaarj which is then very easily removed by the LK. If you can keep the 1/1 Y’Shaarj up for the second turn, he will summon Ragnaros. This is by no means a win condition because you’ll be on turn 6 by the time this happens.
/Fail
There is no scenario where this deck works i have played fifty games not one outcome that comes close to anyone on here that says they got licky and won that means there has to be a better deck out there.
I’d rather use the Hyena and Molten giant version
I have left only hunter and warrior. I need a more budget deck than this one. Any help?
Was able to beat LK on the second try with this deck.
WTF was blizzard smoking on this one?
ran this RNG scenario over and over .. after about 40 tries, I was able to get the yshaarj-yshaarj combo 3 times.
All three times, Straight up Obliterate. on the 10/10 yshaarj and then he kills the 1/1 with what ever means he can.
.. also it was obvious the AI was saving the obliterate for a special occasion because I already had a minion from turn three through animal companion once and through bear trap another time. (unless he drew it both times on turn 4)
Possible nerf? Doesn’t look like Blizzard wants us to pull big minions on the hunter quest anymore.
how did it work for you? When barnes pull y’shaarj into another y’shaarij he is immediately killed by spell where king takes 10 dmg and from there there is no chance to win…
Sadly Barnes rolled a 1/1 ragnaros. luckily i had a taunt and other minions in play. got him to like 30 hp when his wall went up. used weapon spells and minions to break through until 9 mana turn when i used call of the wild to get thru the souls left, and on turn ten it was yshaarj rolling ragnaros. he used the card to destroy a minion and lose health equal to it’s attack on yshaarj, which put him at 12. finished him off with minions. possible without going barnes-yshaarj-yshaarj-rag, but a bit tougher.

Worked first try with this adaption great thx
How do you beat the turn when he plays frostmourne and gets a board full of 2/6’s? That’s impossible to remove as hunter.
If you use barnes on turn 4, and get y’shaarj into y’shaarj into ragnaros, you have a very high chance of beating him before turn 7 even. I beat him first try on turn 6 with this deck.
if you get lucky to roll yshaarj on barnes into rag. keyword being if, because its not easy getting that roll
edit: after so many games I finally got turn 4 combo. just gotta be stupid lucky
I don’t have ragnaros
I got that same combo – didn’t work at all
