My first build of Hunter was a pretty big roll of the dice, and while this isn’t a sure win every time, it’s much more consistent than my previous Hunter deck. The Lich King’s spell for Hunter is The Hunted which punishes you for having minions in your deck. Thankfully, TLK does not run any direct damage so as long as you hold the board you can afford to take 26 – 28 damage to the face. I’ve seen multiple versions of this deck floating around, but this particular version worked for me!
Mulligans
Molten Giant is your main target, and you’ll need at least two minions in your hand to survive The Hunted. After Molten Giant either be looking for Murloc Tidecaller or Vicious Fledgling which can honestly carry the game if given the right adaptations.
The Lich King Boss – Molten Giant Murloc Hunter Play Strategy
You have multiple paths to victory with this deck. You could get lucky and just get both Molten Giants and smash his face with them and your other minions. You can go ham with Vicious Fledgling who gets in good damage and can make some trades when necessary. The other option is snowballing with Murlocs, unfortunately this method is a bit less consistent because of the spells and other cards you are forced to play in the deck. Murlocs in this list can serve as a solid accompaniment to Molten Giant.
Once you get your Molten Giant on the board, you will want to start developing all of your other minions as soon as possible. You can sacrifice 8-damage from Molten if you need to protect one of your minions (once or twice depending on your hand). Quick Shot and your other damage spells are also important for this. You are going to win with big damage from your minions, so you’ll need to protect them as much as possible. You can also use your Weapons for this purpose, as long as you don’t accidentally kill yourself don’t be worried about your health. You need to finish the game before turn 7 and if you are controlling the board TLK will have no opportunity to deal damage to you. If you have a taunt or TLK doesn’t have lethal on the board you can ignore weaker minions to push damage (hopefully he doesn’t play Anti-Magic Shell that turn).
Like most strategies for beating TLK you will need to get lucky. Dodging Obliterate on Molten Giant and hoping you don’t see Blizzard on turn 6 are common problems for these minions based decks. Remember, however, if you can get him low enough you do have Weapons, Hero Power, and direct damage spells that can potentially finish him even after you get hit with Blizzard.
Third try worked perfectly. You absolutely need to get a luck starting hand. Molten giant out of the gate for the win
Works perfectly. Thanks!!
I don’t know if they just changed the 1 cost spell for hunters since this was made or what, but it will definitely get you insta-killed currently. 2x for each mob = gg soon as you take first turn.
I’ve counted the number of minions 3 times and there are 16 of them. 16*2=32. You instantly die at the start. am I missing something here or is this just a troll guide?
Nope you counted right and it will indeed get you insta-gibbed as soon as you end your turn.
ive tried this multiple times, i dont even get close to killing him before turn 6 blizzard
Got it second try with this deck. Molten Giant with some murlocs on board can snowball him pretty quick.
This deck cannot beat T7 frostmourn
this guide is bulk horrible….i lost like 30 times…..
Turn 6 blizzard isn’t the problem, turn 7 Frostmourne and the game is over.
Need some luck on the first rounds, but after a few attempts i managed to kill him, ty
I don’t have any wild cards so I replaced glaivezooka and quick shot with arcane shot and snipe then replaced old murk eye with finja. worked 3rd time.
Nice hahah, 1st try xD
got really lucky with the muligan though, and I never even drew molten giant
