Howdy!

I got real tired of letting my man Fibonacci down and losing to Priests and Cubelocks with my control warrior list, so I decided to dig up the corpse of Pirate Warrior to see what kind of Frankenstein’s monster I could build with some of the new toys from KnC.

The fact of the matter is that cards like Heroic Strike, Upgrade, and Mortal Strike simply don’t cut it anymore. Pure face decks are just outclassed. You need sticky minions and minions that are awkward to deal with using Priest’s toolkit, while also being able to contend stats with Tempo Keleseth Rogue and killing Warlocks before they can throw down their daddy Voidlords to protect them. Luckily, with the assistance of Acherus Veteran and Prince Keleseth, this is all pretty easy to achieve.

The pirate package is fairly self explanatory. The early damage they stack up and the resources your opponent has to commit to clearing them opens up the path for your Kor'kron Elite  and Frothing Berserker to really chew up the opponent’s life total.

The majority of your minions get buffed up to Priest’s unlucky number of 4, and those Frothing Berserker really pack a nice wallop if they stick around for a turn or two. The Spiteful Summoners on top of being another 4 attack body also pulls some pretty mean monsters on average. The only notable 7 drop duds are Silver Vanguard and Lynessa Sunsorrow, though frankly a 6 mana 7/7 when your opponent is being so heavily pressured in the early game isn’t as bad as it sounds.

Most lists I’ve seen only run 1 copy of Lesser Mithril Spellstone, but I think that’s a mistake. Throwing down even just 2 5/5s on turn 6 or 7 can be a devastating game closer, especially when paired with everyone’s favorite set sleeper. A 15/15 hail Mary in combination with a pair of Spellbreaker in the deck has won me more than a couple games, and comes in as a handy finisher in case the rest of your threats get answered. They come out before both Twisting Nether and Shadowreaper Anduin, and if they stick, it’s lights out.

Both the meta and memes alike have trembled before the shambling corpse of Pirate Warrior that I’ve strapped some angry worms and golems to. In two days, I rose from rank 14 to rank 1 after a pretty long streak of losing with my Control Warrior list after being unable to really compete with the pressure laid down by Priests and Tempo Rogues. I don’t think the list is perfect, but it’s served me well, and I’d like to see if anyone else has success with it or has any improvements to make.

Now, back to smashing Priests in the face with my own face.
