Secret Paladin is the deck list that is currently terrorizing the meta after the recent release of The Grand Tournament. The deck is made possible by a single new card: Mysterious Challenger. The card has become known as “Dr. 6” because of its similar impact on the game as Dr. Boom (Dr. 7). The deck can run as many as five (Eye for an Eye and Sacred Trial aren’t worth running) different secrets, so when Mysterious Challenger hits the board your Paladin gets lit up like a Christmas tree (five secrets displayed on the Hero Portrait looks like a tree).
This deck has resurrected numerous cards that saw virtually no play: Noble Sacrifice, Redemption, and Secretkeeper. The idea is to flood the board with sticky minions, and get to turn 6 where you have hopefully drawn into your Mysterious Challenger (you even would keep it in your mulligan). You’ll have minions getting buffed left and right once your opponent attempts to make an attack with a minion. Noble Sacrifice triggers, then you get an Avenge, then your Noble Sacrifice minion is resurrected by Redemption. Plus, if you had any type of board, Competitive Spirit triggers and buffs the whole thing.
Secret Paladin Deck List Update – April 2016 (Season 25)
Loatheb in for a Sludge Belcher has seen some play, and Divine Favor is always an option if you feel like you’re playing a lot of control decks.
Secret Paladin Mulligan Guide and Strategy
This deck is so well-rounded now that keeping Mysterious Challenger in your mulligan is no longer necessary. Secrets should be pitched back into the deck immediately. Secretkeeper, Shielded Minibot, Haunted Creeper, and Muster for Battle are the cards you’re looking to keep. Knife Juggler is a worthwhile keep if you have Haunted Creeper or Muster for Battle already.
Secret Paladin Tech Cards
Blessing of Kings is an option if you don’t have Keeper of Uldaman. A second Truesilver Champion or Consecration can go in place of Coghammer, but understand that Coghammer can swing games by completely destroying your opponent’s board while maintaining your own.
Secret Paladin Card Substitutions (Replacements)
Keep in mind that replacements for cards are rarely ever going to be perfect. It’s usually easiest to try and come close to what the card accomplishes, or double up an already existing card in the deck.
- Coghammer: Second Truesilver Champion is a decent replacement.
- Keeper of Uldaman: Blessing of Kings was generally the card that was in the deck prior to the addition of Keeper of Uldaman.
- Tirion Fordring: Sunwalker is the common suggestion, but you can still go with the second Truesilver or even another Haunted Creeper.
Secret Paladin Combos and Synergies
The main reason to play this deck is for Mysterious Challenger and the five potential secrets he can add to your board for 6-mana. You are generally looking to have some kind of board before you make this play, but just dropping him on turn five or six is enough to change the game.
Muster for Battle and Knife Juggler is a pretty potent combination that can take out key cards on your opponent’s board.
Keeper of Uldaman can be played both offensively and defensively. Play it on one of your 1/1s to make a good trade, or target one of their large minions so you can deal with it with a Truesilver Champion.
do people still think this deck viable 1/19/18. I have been winning a decent amount. orginally added kodo and the murloc that discover secret.
I normally end up getting competitive secret with the murloc though. Any thoughts just trying to start wild debate/ talk. Also like to read this stuff when im at work
What do I remove to put in Divine Favour? It is way too important not to have.
I run it instead of the 2nd Secretkeeper personally
Whats the highest rank you have achieved doing that? Is this deck still able to hit rank 1 after Wotog?
What can I swap out dr.boom for while save up the dust? I have LoE and Naxx.
Second Sludge Belcher, Ragnaros, or Sylvanas.
How do you recover when you draw 2-3 secrets in your opening hand? With 9 1 drops, I don’t see how this deck doesn’t run out of steam easily. I’ve been playing all different versions of it, and I dunno, I’m struggling with that. I took out one secret and put in Divine Favor, but is that bad?
Divine Favor is a solid card in this deck. Sometimes you just get unlucky with your draws, just make sure to mulligan away any secrets and you should be fine.
what the change for mysterius chalanger?
You kind of need that card for this deck.
Hey m8 insane deck but…
I dont got any expansion….what should I replace for all of them ?
I have the same deck but I replaced :
– 1 Secretkeeper –> + 1 Divine Favor
– 1 Sludge Belcher –> + 1 Loatheb
– 1 Owl Ironbeak –> + 1 Blessing of Kings
what can i ise for avange ??? plz help
Second Redemption and Haunted Creeper.
Will secret paladin be dead after the release of new card EATER OF SECRETS?
Nope.
eater of secrets is lesser problem than lack lack of avenge, muster, belchers, shreders, loatheb, haunted creepers 😀 rip secret pala [*]
You can still play this in Wild, but I think Eater of Secrets will be run a lot there to counter Secret Paladin, after the nerfs I wanted to craft this deck, shame that Blizzard releases those counter-cards. FeelsBadMan
Will never reach Legend SadFace. Lol
So I m trying to get a paladin deck going and midrange and controlish versions seem weak, so i thought of crafting the dr 6s for this deck being the only missing pieces.
Is it worth doing that having the upcoming expansion realeased soon? Will secret pally still be a thing?
I wouldn’t craft them right now unless you really think you’re going to be playing Wild, but we don’t know for sure how good Secret Paladin will be after the expansion releases.
Midrange is still strong when favorable trades are taken. It’s hard to lose board control. Used midrange to push to 10 then secret to push to 5.. Dr. 6 is necessary for a secret paladin deck
hey thanks for the suggestions, I have one more question: what is a good replacement for Tirion?
Sunwalker, Ragnaros, Loatheb, or just go with a second Truesilver.
what should be swapped for keeper of aldaman?
Blessing of Kings.
What can be a good replacement for the second Mysterious Challenger?
Second Haunted Creeper or Truesilver. You could also just add Divine Favor.
– 1 Secretkeeper + 1 Divine favor
– 1 Sludge + 1 Loatheb
-1 Keeper + 1 Blessing of Kings
Overall this allows you to comeback from bad situations
I like your replacements, but I would rather put the Blessing of kings instead of a shredder, rather than keeper, because keeper can deal with strong enemy minions or buff your weaker ones, but shredder might come with bad RNG (Lets say a Doomsayer or Explosive sheep that kills off your Silver hands)
I really don’t like the Blessing of Kings when you have an Uldaman, you basically get a BGH-like effect for 4 mana and a solid body, I would go with the -2/-2 stats for an added effect like that honestly, not mentioning that without a minion on board, Keeper of Uldaman is plain better than BoK…….
