Golakas because pirate early game > Mage early game and babbling book does little to help with tempo. Cobalt scalebane because if you don’t deal with it immediately it adds too much pressure and also priests are a thing. Kirin tor is a good add on but what do you cut? Bonemare?
I think this deck is teched very appropriately for the current meta.
First of all i hit Legend every month and i have alot of exp. with secret mage, u have enough tempo with Wyrm, Arcanologist, Valet , Apprentice and KTM. Babbling book is in secret mage because u have a high chance of getting secrets and useful spells, therefor it’s a little more useful than Crawler.
If u don’t play with KTM then u have to play secrets for full mana (or 2 mana with Apprentice) and that’s slow. KTM is better than scalebane 4 that reason alone. KTM is what kinda defines secret mage if u cut then the deck loses it’s purpose.

No Kirin tor mage? Babbling book works better than Crawler, Cobalt scalebane is unnecessary
