Should be -2 Salhet Pride +2 Two shield guy
Paladin needs the draw. Goody Two-Shields is a much better cards, but Salhet’s Pride adds consistency.
With second thought, i think Braggart doesnt make the cut either. He’s a big pile of late game stats, not what the deck needs. When you think about it, he’s also unplayable on empty board. He’s not going to be played turn 2 but gets better as the game gets late.
And about Salhet Pride, the problem i have with this card is the lack of tempo. The deck should have good late game because of the way librams works. The problem is how to get there.
Games can be won and lost in the first few turns. What’s the ideal opener? 1-drop (either from FDoS or Attendant), Hand of A’dal, into Salhet’s Pride?
Well, here’s what the opponent does. Coin, Twin Slice+HP. Your 1-drop is gone. No target for A’dal. So you HP. They return by dropping Battlefiend and HP away your 1/1. Your Salhet’s Pride? HP away the following turn, plus they lay down Bonechew Brawler. At least you draw Braggart and Sungill off the Pride.
Turn 4. You play the Braggart (3/3 from the Battlefiend and Brawler) and give it Hand of A’dal. Things are looking up, right? You’ve got a 5/5 to their 4/2 and 2/3. They HP and Guardian Augmerchant on the Brawler. Braggard goes down. You now have no board staring down a 4/2 Battlefiend and a 4/2 Brawler. You don’t even play Concentration to make the value play.
You know what would have stopped all of this? Shotbot on turn 2 would have forced a trade on the Battlefiend before it got out of control. Goody Two-Shields on turn 3 would have forced a trade on the Brawler (except, with Hand of A’dal, Goody gets shield back after you swing, and is now 6/4).
You said yourself, the deck needs consistency. Consistency isn’t just drawing cards, otherwise all Paladins would run Lay on Hands and not complain about card draw. You need consistency by sticking on the board early. Braggart and Pride do not do that.
