SKIP TRACKING. I dropped them for a jeweled macaw and another freezing trap and the deck is so beautiful. I’ve gotten my Oondasta from Kathrena, and then pulled Krush out of hand with OK from Oondasta multiple times. If you can’t outright kill them then, they usually concede.
Replacement of houndmaster?
This deck is awesome!! I’ve been struggling piecing together a good deck, but I just happened to have King Krush, Kathrena and just pulled Zul Jin out of a pack. Luckily I found this deck, and have the majority of the cards. I’m missing Oondasta, Deathstalker Rexxar, Houndmaster Shaw and rat trap (replaced with Secret Plan, which gets me Rat Trap a lot of the time, so not too bad there), but it plays beautifully without these cards. A cool card I also have been playing and seems to be working well is Seeping Oozeling. I’m a Witchwood Grizzly short, so tried it out. With Kathrena being the only deathrattle in the deck, you can lay it down for a solid minion at 6 mana and gain Kathrenas deathrattle to call a big boi even earlier. Only issue is if you’ve drawn kathrena as it loses it’s battlecry. But so far it’s been pretty useful, I’ll most likely replace with another grizzly eventually as they are really nice in this deck.
And I haven’t had much issue with tracking in this deck. I haven’t played too many matches, but I’m on an 8 or so win streak right now and have yet to have tracking really screw me. I’ve had Zul Jin pop up a few times which makes me want to take it and hold til 10 mana rather than lose it (not sure if that’s the right thing to do), but that hasn’t hurt me yet. And man o man, every time I play Zul Jin, it’s game over. I love that card
I think Tracking definately don’t synergize with this deck for a couple of reasons, namely:
1) It screws over your big Zul’Jin turn.
2) You’ll probably burn a big beast boi with it.
I think potential cards that would synergize with this deck’s game-plan would be Carnivorous Cube, Play Dead and Charged Devilsaur.
Haven’t found the ideal ratio yet, but I feel like it would be 2x Play Dead and 1x Carnivorous Cube. Play Dead would work for both Kathrena and Cube, but I don’t know if that justifies running 2..Honestly, the only reason you’d want to run Play Dead is for a big Cube turn were you go face with two big bois.
I’ll definately be adding a Cube in place of 1 Tracking.
Question: What is Oondasta for? Is it just a backup when you end up drawing all of your beasts before Katherena?
Also: cut Tracking. Really. Do it. I never liked that card and with Zul’Jin now it is a no-brainer to cut this card.
I would include more big bois. Like Charged Devilsaur. Or Highmanes. Something like that.
To my understanding, you can sum up Oondasta as:
1) A big Recruit target for Kathreena.
2) A way to cheat your big bois from your hand.
3) A combo of the above in which you recruit her with Kathreena, Rush onto something you can Overkill and summon Krush, the Charged Boi or any huge Zombeast.
Pretty big tempo swing.
Yea I tried it and it is actually insane. Kinda underrated it feels like. People said Oondasta is not that big of a deal but she just fits in this deck perfectly. Nice target for Kathrena and also nice from hand when you have other big bois. I like it!
Tracking just cost me a match after I used it twice before casting Zul’Jin. It auto discarded an additional 4 cards including DK Rex and costing me the rest of my deck against a sure win vs healadin. Ended up milling out my deck =/
A big issue with Recruit Hunter is there’s often a match where you’ve run out of targets for Kathreena and her Deathrattle ends up being useless.
That’s the only reason I’m considering adding a couple Charged bois.
I don’t hate Tracking but it’s definately what you’d call a gamble. I’ve found myself holding onto Tracking in many games. I’ll only play it on turn 1 and only if my hand’s crap, which I guess is the card’s purpose after all.
I’ll experiment with one Charged Devilsaur in place of one Tracking and see if anything changes.
Hate Tracking, I will put something else instead like… other big bois?! Tracking is redundant in decks which run Stitched Trackers already, plus Zul’jin would destroy you. Stitched Trackers will certainly get you copies of those beasts, but what about some more of them like Devilsaur (he can’t screw the consistency). Remember, there’s no Cube here, more value is needed, I guess… or Rexxar is enough?! Maybe even Lich King like in the old Recruit Hunter.
I’ve played it in three Brawliseums, went 6-3, 8-3, 5-3, so nothing impressive. I really like the deck though. I too was unsure about tracking, but I don’t think it screwed me over even once. Most of the time I don’t even play Zul’jin anyway, and often times when I do I’m out of cards anyway or can wait until he’s played before doing the last tracking.
One thing I learned after those 28 games is that the best target for Stitched Tracker is often Oondasta. You’re likely to end up with a big beast in hand anyway, and if not, then Rexxar will provide some juicy targets.
Why is there a hero card is it realy crucial or just for fun?
i would say because it buys that extra time, which you maybe need to set up kathrena, oondasta, king, etc…
it replays all your traps and spellstones, so you get high value out of it
just my thoughts
I mean it is fun to play this card.
But it is also a value machine and a good tempo swing.
Just with 2 traps and 1 spellstone you still have a huge tempo win. Not to forget that the hero power is just better than the standard one – even though it is lame as f*ck. And maybe Rexxar ends up being the last card in your deck. You would get a good value out of the “upgraded” hero power.
