General Mulligans
Abusive is fine to play on an empty board on turn 1, just to get some board presence and be more threatening. Try to avoid playing scavenging Hyena by itself.The Whispers of the Old Gods incarnation of Midrange Hunter. This deck is great because it destroys aggro with its higher value cards and more board control, along with being faster than control decks and the C’thun decks that are everywhere. It uses both beast synergy and deathrattle synergy. Firey Bat, Infested wolf, Huhuran, Call of the wild, and N’zoth are the new cards added to an already strong archetype that only really lost webspinner as an essential card (of course RIP shredder and Boom, but that’s every single deck’s loss).
Replacements: Several of these cards can be swapped in and out. All 4 legendaries as well as Call of the wild can be replaced with other high cost minions like ragnaros or even just Stranglethorn Tiger, depending on what you have available. Cards like an additional freezing trap, snake trap, bear trap, and flare are also other things you can put in based on personal preference. The Camel +Kvaldir combo is also a decent pick for this deck.
