Mulligans
This deck is somewhere between Secret Mage and Freeze or Burn Mage.
Mulligan:
-vs fast decks-> Mana Wyrm, Arcanologist, Babbling Book, Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Frostbolt.
-vs slow decks-> Same with fast decks but u can also keep Primordial glyph.
If you dont have any of this, or Kirin Tor AND a secret, you can keep Counter spell or Potion of Polymorph or even Kirin tor.
Strategy:
This deck uses Secret Mechanics to stall Aggro or Midrange decks, it can also grow faster than control decks to create a winning condition and with a good hand you can choose to play like an aggro deck if you have to. Check what i mean:
-vs Midrange Hunter: 1) Dont let him have beasts on the board! if he has an early board control you must play like a control deck and destroy potential threats until you reach late game. Keep in mind his pain in the ass hero power, so try to avoid as much face dmg from minions as possible. 2) if you have a good hand with a lot of damage and you get board control early you can go aggro and ignore small threats.
-vs Secret Mage: This deck has way more depth than secret mage. All you have to do is to reach late game. Again, if your hand is good and u have board control you can act as a midrange deck and go face.
-vs Token Druid: You need a good opening hand or things will be difficult. But still, your secrets and your small minions can give u the board and since you have it you know what to do.. Burn his face and dont let any threats like Fledging on the board.
-vs Freeze or Burn Mage: You are faster than them. Are you smarter than them?? Try to outsmart them with your secrets (polymorph their Doomsayer and counter their spells WHEN THE TIME IS RIGHT) and do as much damage as you can with your low-cost minions.
-vs Quest Rogue: Go face. She cant kill more than 1 or 2 of your low-cost minions and you have to kill them before they do. Scare the shit out of them with your secrets. Try to use Potion of Polymorph on the important minion for the quest and Counter Spell to counter the quest or force her to use it later.
-vs Miracle rogue: Rogues have no heal or taunt minions (except Tar Creeper for some guys) and this deck has really high dmg. So try to burst them down as fast as possible while you stall their game with your secret mechanics.
–vs Quest Warrior: You are in a rush to do a lot of damage. Use your spells mostly for removals to keep your minions alive and try to avoid Brawl or Sleep with the fishes with your counter spell.
-vs Pirate Warrior: try to get the board early and avoid getting too much damage. Keep your removals like frostbolt for high potential threats. Then act like a midrange deck to get him before he gets you.
Tips: Dont use Counter Spell if your opponent has the coin. Use Medivh’s Valet vs aggro or midrange decks even without getting the “deal 3 dmg” benefit if you need to keep up on the board. If you believe that you need or will need an aoe you can choose one with your primordial glyph because this deck is really low on aoe and it depends on the secrets instead.
The key to win many times, even if things look bad, is to check in how many turns you can win with your spells in your hand if you go face. Dont forget that you have tons of dmg even for a priest or quest warrior.
Your worst nightmare is Evolve Shaman. Feel free to concede if you have a bad hand.
This is really fun to play for everyone because you can change your playstyle according to your opponent and your hand. Although I recommend this deck for people familiar with secrets mechanics and like secret mage gameplay but want a late version of the current Secret Mage deck.
I went from 15 to 10 in 2 hours without a problem and it keeps going up.
