Mulligans
General Mulligans
Cards like Kobold Librarian , Loot Hoarder and Bloodmage Thalnos are excellent to keep against less aggressive decks to start rotating early on through your deck. Doomsayer is again a good pickup early on to try and maintain good board control to get to to the later stages of the game.
Against more aggressive decks try to mulligan for Defile and Tar Creeper to try and shut down their early pressure.
The aim of this deck is to stay alive until late in the game to pull off the Mecha'thun combo and kill your opponent.
The combo itself is quite straightforward. The setup involves playing Hemet, Jungle Hunter to destroy the majority of your deck once all the combo pieces are in your hand. Then you must play two Galvanizer to reduce the cost of your Mecha'thun to eight mana. Next turn you play Mecha'thun followed by Bloodbloom, which allows you to play Cataclysm and hopefully winning you the game.
There is only 4 ways to upgrade your spellstones which makes it quite hard to gain back life if they aren’t in your hand at the same time when you use either hellfire or librarian. You could always take out Doomsayer and put in SpiritBomb.
Replace Dark Pact with Rotten Applebaum. Rotten Applebaum will be a lot better because it heals you, stops your opponents minions, and because you have nothing in the deck that you would want to comb with dark pact. Also, get rid of the second cataclysm. You only need one and having the second could cause you to discard your combo.
Thanks for the advice. I’ve changed a couple of things; I’ve taken out a pact and put an applebaum in, I’ve put 2 voodoo dolls in which combo well with both pact and mortal coil. I’ve removed the extra cataclysm and blood bloom (wasted spaces in the deck). What do you think?
Just an idea for a deck that could work for Mecha’Thun, I would appreciate any feedback on the deck list. Also it’s my first deck that I’ve built on this site so I apologise for how badly it’s formatted 🙂
