Stats from Rank 4 – Legend
NOTABLE EXCLUSIONS:
Arcane Blast: This list does not run any form of spell damage so unless you get a spell damage minion from an RNG effect, this will only be a 1 mana deal 2.
Babbling Book: Not a fan of the extreme variance this card has, especially in wild.
Manic Soulcaster: It’s a decent body on turn three, but since I have mostly been playing against aggro, I felt it was too slow.
Meteor: The deck already has a lot of aoe, and often against pirate warrior and egg druid it’s not very effective. It helps the Midrange Shaman matchup, but this deck is already incredibly favoured in it from my experience.
Antonidas: Not enough cheap spells.
Zombie Chow: Although Chow doesn’t die to Patches and Rusty Axe, the heal from Mistress has saved me many times, and can still give value after you bring her back with N’zoth.
Gluttonous Ooze: I feel like there are far better reactive turn 3 plays to include this minion. (Forgotten Torch, Deathlord, Volcanic Potion)
Cairne: Too slow
Dr. Boom: I have found that there are many things I would rather do on 7 than play Dr. Boom, and often he would feel clunky.
NOTABLE INCLUSIONS:
PYROS: I honestly feel that Pyros is one of the best cards in this deck. He generates near infinite value with N’zoth and he can fill in your curve if you have nothing else to play. He is amazing in the Quest Warrior matchup because you can keep slamming him on the board and when he is a 10/10 the rag hit doesn’t kill him.
Dirty Ray, MC Tech: This is what makes the Shaman matchup so favoured, save it for later in the game, and it’s even better with Brann.
GENERAL MULLIGAN:
Reno, Kazakus, Doomsayer, Mad Scientist, Frostbolt, Pyros, Deathlord, Forgotten Torch, Flamecannon, Mistress of Mixtures.
MATCHUPS:
Egg Druid (Favoured) Mulligan for cards that can deal with their early minions (volcanic potion, deathlord) and try to soften up their board for your bigger AOE (Blizzard, Flamestrike). Duplicating Sludge Belcher, Kazakus, Reno also helps. A lot.
Hunter (Favoured) I didn’t play against a single Hunter, but the same rules apply for egg druid.
Secret Mage (Unfavoured) I have only played against secret mages, and unless you can remove the 3/3 that gets 2/2 every turn if you have a secret, you lose the game very fast. Luckily I drew the nuts both times, but they were still almost lost games.
Secret Paladin(Slightly Favoured) is easier to deal with than Murloc Paladin(Unfavoured), just be mindful of the secrets and try to proc them in a way that is easiest for you to remove. Try and save Polymorph for Tyrion. Keeping your Ice Block up until late game against Murloc Paladin is your key to winning, along with board freezes.Hopefully you can get either off Glyph or Cabalist’s Tome.
Midrange Shaman (Extremely Favoured) Often times blizzard is more useful to freeze a board of big dudes, instead of clearing a board of little dudes. Dirty Rat MC Tech makes this matchup incredibly favoured.
Renolock (Slightly Favoured) Try to Doomsayer going into his turn 4 so Twilight Drake and Mountain Giant get delayed and it screws up their early game plan. If you’re nearing fatigue and have an ice block, try and calculate how you can get lethal off of burning down your opponent. Sometimes giving up board is the best play.
Pirate Warrior (Favoured) There are alot of cards that deal with their early aggression, if you can stabilize with spells, and throw down Reno, Kazakus or Belcher, you’ll probably be fine.
Quest Warrior (Unfavoured) If he uses both brawls before your N’zoth you can easily win, but if he’s smart you’ll have to rely on getting lucky with his Hero Power missing. Pyros helps a ton in this matchup, continuously keeping bodies on board.
Caverns Rogue (Unfavoured) It’s almost inpossible to find answers to everything the rogue plays after he uses the quest. Blizzard/ Frost nova Doomsayer, would be one of the best ways to come back.
