League of Explorers – Heroic Arch Thief Rafaam

Introduction

Before facing the final boss of the adventure The League of Exporers, you will battle Arch Thief Rafaam. The fight is tricky because he will steal your deck and Elise will give you a spare one which is not a Tier 1 to say the least. But it have 2 copies of a good card Rare Spear , a 1/2 weapon which gains +1/+1 when your opponent plays a rare card. So this is an awful deck for him to steal which contains a bunch of rare cards to buff your special weapon. You can see all the details of the boss and the battle here.

Strategies

• The special idea of this deck isn’t just give Rafaam the worst cards possible. It is to give him unplayable cards, cards that buff weapons without any weapons to equip (Deadly Poison, Doomerang,Leeching Poison, Envenom Weapon) ,  so he is force to keep them in his hand plus a bunch of that draw cards like Coldlight Oracle, Roll the Bones, Sprint, Mimic Pod and Thistle Tea (almost all rare cards). Then he will full his hand quickly, because he draw 2 cards a turn, one from his deck at the start of the turn and one minion from his hero power. Without space in his hand he will burn his hero power minion, which is by far his bigger threat. Also he can easily fill his board with do nothing minions like Ancient Watcher, Devilsaur Egg,  and Humongous Razorleaf (all rare cards by the way). Making again his hero power useless.
• An other way to neutralize his hero power is with Sir Finley Mrrgglton, to change his power for a regular class one.
• This deck has 21 rare cards to buff Rare Spear to an insane level, to beat him quickly, and to deal with his hero power minions.

The difficult part of this match is to deal with the early turns minions he summon thanks to his hero power. Before you can draw Rare Spear and buff it. Before he fill his hand and his board. So there is a possibility Rafaam can summon some threats you can’t deal with, if you have bad luck.
