Heistbaron Togwaggle is extremely powerful when you can activate it, especially if you’re running Preparation. Choosing a random treasure and playing it for free is an absurd payoff. I don’t think Spirit of the Shark and Waggle Pick are particularly good cards, but they can let you do this multiple times per game, as well as synergizing with the Lackeys you need to run anyway. This is definitely a bit of a meme, but it might actually be pretty powerful.
Gameplan
We want to utilize Lackey battlecries with Spirit of the Shark, and thin our deck with Raiding Party to find Heistbaron Togwaggle. On 7, we Lackey + Heistbaron Togwaggle (ideally with Spirit of the Shark still up) + Preparation + fantastic treasure of our choice. If Heistbaron Togwaggle sticks, we Barista Lynchen it and do it again.
Card choices
- Argent Squire – RIP Fire Fly. You will be missed. Serves similar role as early game/combo activation
- EVIL Cable Rat/EVIL Miscreant – Lackey Rogue needs lackeys.
- Edwin VanCleef – Belongs in almost any tempo Rogue deck, especially when you’re running Preparation.
- Waggle Pick – Okay look. I don’t love this weapon. It seems like it works well with Dread Corsair, but then it returns it to your hand like an asshole. Feels good when it returns a Lackey or EVIL Miscreant, though. Just testing this as a weapon for Raiding Party.
- Vendetta – INSANE when it’s live, and it probably will be pretty often, even vs. other Rogues, because we’re drawing Hench-Clan Burglar a lot with Raiding Party.
- Barista Lynchen – our deck runs a lot of cool battlecries, so it seemed fitting. Not particularly attached to it. Powerful when you get another Heistbaron Togwaggle, fine when you hit a Lackey or Hench-Clan Burglar
- Blink Fox – perfectly playable when you only get 1 card. Can burgle you something for Vendetta. Possibly should run a second copy for that reason, but the list is pretty tight.
- Zilliax – we care about living long enough to play Heistbaron Togwaggle
Other options:
Any playable battlecry is an arguable inclusion in a Spirit of the Shark deck:
- Defender of Argus – it’s no Fungalmancer, but it looks pretty good
- Lifedrinker – heal 6, deal 6.
- Gral, the Shark – It’s a battlecry I guess. There are some really weak targets for it to hit, but if Spirit of the Shark is up, sometimes it’s a 10/10 that draws 2 when it dies.
stuff like that.
