I suggest throwing in a Spellbreaker. If you are really desperate, slap a Scavenging Ooze to deal with Pally, Warrior, and Frostmourne, as well as the Occasional Atiesh. Thalnos is not necessary, but it helps.
Today I crafted a Gul’dan and played a dozen matchups around rank 13.
The matchups were:
3 -Control Priest: -2
1-Zoo: -1
1-Kiebler Paladin: +1
1-Control Paladin: +1
1-Jade Druid: -1
3-Evolve: -2
1-Mill Rouge: 0
1-MidRange Hunter: +1
The control Priest matchups were very frustrating. I think its fair to say if they don’t draw “Raza the Unchained” you stand a chance.
The zoo matchup had me mull as tho it were a mirror matchup. I think I’d of done well otherwise.
I was surprised with the Kiebler game, I was able to prevent the opponent from building momentum.
The control Paladin matchup felt as tho I was going to lose for most of the game until I was able to Gul’Dan him. If the player had a second “Gain 12 life” I was done for.
The Jade matchup was a headscratcher. I think I was just supposed to Gul’Dan earlier then I did and put a clock on him…
The same goes for the Mill game. At worst it was a draw. With some matchup knowledge I think this is a favourable matchup.
The poor Hunter made a valiant effort but didn’t draw any Kill Commands. Derp.
Finally the Evolve decks were even MORE frustrating then the Priest matchups. Why? It always felt like I was winning right up until I’d lost. I could furrow my brow and blame luck, but it seems as tho everytime they Evolve its a win-more scenario. Randomly losing all your taunt minions for a combo kill is infuriating. And the new character changing card, when it all flows like gravy for them is SOOOO lame. Not every evolve deck is going to be rocking this late game card, but it certainly changes the way you’ll play, if you’re trying to win.
I don’t know if I’d recommend the deck with the experience I’ve had this morning. Oddly enough I didn’t play the mirror, a single Mage deck, or a Warrior deck, so my sample size is certainly small. But I just remain uncertain for the time being. Also I don’t know what I’d change in the deck at this point in time.
Today i pushed from rank 8 to rank 1 with this deck, but was facing a lot of mage so i cut one drain soul for eater of secrets. If you get used to the deck, the only matchup that seems to be hard is pirate warrior but even that is winnable with good rng. all other aggro decks get memed on, and ive only faced a few jade druids, but the tempo swings with guldan and medivh seem to be the key to winning that matchup and so far havent lost to druid. If you time your removal, this deck turns ladder into easy mode. gl climbing 🙂
So bad deck.
1)thalnos???really? when you have the better zealot and you dont need the extra card since you can tap??
2) what exactly gul dan will summon when you play it?2 demons?hopefully
3)Mediv??????? on a deck that runs 2 big spells???????
4)doomsayer???when you have already millions of clears???
I would like to know the winrate of this deck from people that played it
im rank 1 about to hit legend its pretty good against everything in the meta, ill be honest defile is carrying the deck hard tho along with guldan. I have about a 70 percent win rate from about rank 10 to rank 1
Millions of question marks won’t make you look more serious. This deck is pretty enough to reach Legend if you know how to play it properly. Bloodmage Thalnos is not a necessary in this deck. It is just an additional spell damage and card draw. You don’t have to summon a lot of demons with Gul’dan. It’s hero power is even more powerful than your demons. It’s not a wise choice to run Dread Infernal in this deck just to summon few more demons. Weapon’s charge is 3, not 5 or something. How many 8 mana spells did you expect? 6 mana Siphon Soul can also be considered as a big spell. Even 4 mana Hellfire is pretty good. You don’t have to summon 8/8 all the time. Free 4/4 minion on board is still pretty good after a huge board clear. Finally, this is a Control deck. Doomsayer is the only way to slow down Aggro matchups. So your questions are just dumb.
This deck has no win condition against the Big EZ priest. Dunno how important that is, but note if you see a lot of priest this deck can struggle. Not enough value.
this deck uses alot of low cost minions and isn’t really suited to tap the first three turn in order to get out mountain giant. medivh on the other hand insane with twisting nether or a spellpower+hellfire board clear.
How do you beat druid without skulking geist. Serious question.
You can sub Lich King for Geist
No do. Lich King provides immense value as well as protection.

This deck is so bad , its hv a lot of bad matchups
Yes it has polarized matchups but it holds its own against both aggro druid and jades and absolutely crushes murloc paladin

Is Medivh good @ this deck? wouldnt be better the mountain giant?
