Mulligans

General Mulligans

In general, you want to find these pieces as fast as possible to get your big minions out as fast as possible. Cards like Power Word Shield are only a keep if you have Radiant Elemental. Shadow Visions is a flexible enough card to keep,so you can find the answers you are looking for.

Aggro Mulligans

Agaisnt aggro, you just need to survive until turn 5 or 6. These are the best cards to do it with, since it clears up the board and keeps you alive. After that you just have to much value in getting big minions in play that they simply can't deal with. After turn 7 you should pretty much stabilize and win the game.

This is my take on Big Priest in the Witchwood meta after it has settled. This deck has the shell of classic Big Priest, with cards such as Shadow Essence, Eternal Servitude, and the Diamond Spellstone. I also decided to have a secondary win condition of a mind blast OTK, where you use a fully upgraded spellstone to resurrect Malygos, Velen, and a Radiant Elemental.

Matchups:

During the time of making this, the most popular decks out there are Odd Palidan, Odd Rouge, Even Warlock, Shudderwock Shaman, Taunt Druid, and others such as Miracle Rouge and Even Shaman.

Against Anything but Aggro:

You want to keep your combo cards such as Shadow Essence, Spellstone and Eternal Servitude. If you have none of these in hand, then you look for things like Radiant Elemental and Power Word Shield. All you have to do is piece together guys, and keep bringing them back to out value any deck that is not aggro. You win almost 100% of the time, and you don’t even need to pull the combo off.

Against Aggro:

DO NOT WORRY ABOUT THE COMBO. You want to hard mulligan for early game survival, like spirit lash, shadow word pain, or even a shadow visions to look for copies of these. Once you get that, you can worry about getting cards like Shadow Essence to pull out other cards such as Obsidian Statue. If you can survive the first 5 or 6 turns, you pretty much win. They won’t be able to deal with your huge cards or board clears. One of my favourites is to use Eternal Servitude to get Malygos, and then use Spirit Lash to clear their board and heal back up to full when they were *this* close to killing you.

This deck is flexible. I run a lot of tech, such as one silence, a Vivid Nightmare, and Mass Dispel. Silence is good to buff your spellstone, or to deal with Taunts and Cubes. Vivid Nightmare is very good when trying to pull off the OTK agaisnt slower decks, as you can get your mind blasts to do 40 damage each and cost 0 mana. This is especially good in matchups like Odd Warrioir, or Taunt Druid.

If you struggle against agro, then you can cut the OTK package, and instead run cards like Wild Pyromancer. This means that you don’t get run Velen or Malygos, but will make your Shadow Essence much more reliable and can help you out in the early game.

This is the most fun deck I have played in the Withwood Meta, and got me from rank 4 to Legend within a week of playing it. While it not be the best deck out there for climbing, it sure is one of them most fun and definitely one of the most satisfying.

I’ve found that it seems to work better if you replace one or both of the elementals with Northshire clerics. Being able to use a large burst of spells doesn’t seem to be as important in this deck as getting good card draw. I’ve also found that having a Mirage Caller somewhere in there allows for powerful OTKs with Malygos and Velen.

Have you tried putting The Grand Archivist. It looks fun. It cast a random spell at the end of turn.
