Mulligans

Hey !

My name is Vlad – i played HS since beta and usually finish season between rank 5-1 playing only greedy control decks.

This is the first deck I ever posted, so bare with me..

I am a huuuge fan of control decks and before K&C i tried to make Hadronox work in a BIG-type druid deck.

I also played with this deck last season and it dose pretty well – its not a high T1 deck, but its pretty consistent and you can high-roll your way out of bad matchup’s (plus the deck is incredibly fun to play – nothing like a soul-crushing Oakheart with hatcher and 2 recruited dragons, taunts on turn 9).

You ramp pretty easy ,have early game taunts and killer late game.

For early game – always mulligan for ramp and a small taunt (ramp has priority)

Barnes can be good for tempo – but idealy you would like to :

1 – have some dragons in hand if you get Deathwing Dragonlord

2 – have some taunts die if you get Hadronox

Major highroll against aggro is clearly Grizzled Guardian and Dragonhatcher.

Remember – even just a simple 1/1 taunt gets later value from Hadronox revive.

Nzoth – can resurrect Hadronox for a second wave of taunts plus Dragonlord and Grizzled Guardians.(having so many big taunts is ok – because enemy cant trade in your Hadronox if you have a full board – either they have to clear taunts – then you can kill it, or clear whole board and revive your taunts).

Most of the times you get Oakheart on 9 – game is heavy in your favor.

Deck is very resilient against big board clears or even Vanish and Psychic Scream – because you have some recruit mechanics that thin your deck pretty fast. (if you find yourself against lot of control, going in fatigue – try some Astral Tigers for even more infinite Value – its just an idea, haven’t tried it myself because ladder is FULL of aggro).

Also if meta is swarmed with control – you can try naturalize, to break you rown Hadronox and mill those priests and warlocks.

The deck has a lot of nifty plays like  – having a hadronox on board and using deathwing for full board clear and all taunt revive or stuff like that – always think of what to use together and be aware of what is still left in your deck for recruits and revives.

I hope you have as much fun as i do with this deck and feel free to ask me( or suggest) anything about it – i will answer/update if possible.

PS: i only posted the deck because a lot of people on ladder wanted to see the list

Also shoutout to EloiseHS for the Nzoth/Grizzeled Guardian Package idea in her BIG Druid featured at Seatstory Cup VIII

Great deck. Not sure about Barnes though. My RNG must be poor as he always seems to pull out 1/1 Sleepy Dragon, Master Oakheart or something else with no end of turn or deathrattle effect. Trying Branching Paths right now but any suggestions?

Cool deck! I want to play it, but unfortunately I lack the dust to craft the whole thing. Could I substitute the deathwings for something else perhaps? I also don’t have Hadronoxx. What could be a replacement for that card?

Deathwing deathlord is replaceable with ysera?

maybe replace wiht lich king for hadronox synergy. Ysera dosent have deathrattle or taunt – but if you are missing lich king, try ysera. (more problematic in aggro meta, more accepetable in control meta)

Hey man, awesome looking list. I’ve been playing a janky RDD (ramp dragon Druid) that I enjoy the hell out of. This one looks even better though, and I’m probably going to craft hardonox when I get home. Will be missing dragonlord and nzoth though, and was thinking of replacing those two with cubes (ideally for hardonox). Do you think that could be equally effective, or don’t bother? Also would you consider ysera/lich king/ysera for this list? Thanks!

thank you ! haven’t tried it with cube – can be good idea – but how to break them? maybe be a bit too greedy in aggro filled meta, but lich king can fit right in if you dont have nzoth and deathlord. maybe with 2 nourish you could make cubes work…you have to try it out.(could be good agasint some priests and warlocks).

My thought was to have the cube trigger the hardonox deathrattle; hadn’t really thought about how to get the cube to break though. Sadly I lacked the stones to pull the trigger and craft hardonox.. long live RDD!.

I’ve been trying to make big druid work for months and i have literally all the legendaries in the game (besides warrior and warlock) so needless to say it’s been killing me to come up with something like this. I’ll be testing it today and working on perfecting it. Ive played about 1k big druid games since back when mean streets came out.

just my first thoughts, two grizzly guardians seems overkill, I’d suggest taking one out for a jade idol synergy with the jade blossom, and save it for fatigue prevention at the end 🙂 or if agaisnt secret mage, a 1 cost counterspell trigger

Second thoughts is perhaps swapping barnes for umbra to make hadronox more effective but i wont decide on how to get umbra in there until i finish my first 10 games with the deck 🙂

glad to hear you are trying the list. The jade idea seems pretty good, as i did face fatigue against warlocks with 10 voidlords. Grizzly seems overkill sometimes, but its good for nzoth and barnes synergy. Maybe the astral tiger can fit in too,but it may be too greedy. I dont know how umbra would fit, but barnes wins you games on his own with high-roll (umbra is too clunky).

Yeah After some testing I agree Umbra doesnt work here and tiger is a bit too greedy, I found wrathion to be an interesting addition as well as possibly cairne

edit: i think this deck works because control decks are waaay to light on removal (it being an aggro swarmed meta) and the 4 attack dragons give priest a hard time. If you dont get killed by turn 3-4, aggro cant posibly get through all the taunts. I had a rogues use 2 vilespines with 2 shadowsteps to clear threat after threat, and then concede XD
