Mulligans
General Mulligans
The main thing you should know, is that getting out Mad Scientist early can be amazing, especially if the scientist pulls an Ice Block from your deck.
Aggro Mulligans
The thing that stands out here is the Molten Giant, which is good against hunters for example, because with the giant and a belcher or a heal you can pull off some major swing turns.
Midrange Mulligans
Mad scientist is obviously always a great pickup, and you need to get something down in the midgame, which you can do in the form of a sludge belcher. Thaurissan is also quite good, especially if you have a duplicate set up.
Combo Mulligans
This deck is vey strong against combo decks, the barely stand a chance as long as you manage to get down a taunt or an Ice block.
Control Mulligans
Against control, you can allow yourself to pick up some more lategame cards, these ones in particular. Even Alextrasza is not too bad in your starting hand against something like a control priest.
I recently built this deck because i had gotten bored of regular freeze mage. The concept is not my idea, but this version of the deck is. I have tweaked it quite a bit, tried to add Reno and Frost Giant but chose to replace them with Polymorph and Mountain Giant in the end, which was slightly more consistent. I also wanted to try this deck now, because with the addition of Standard Mode, this deck will most likely no longer be seen on stream because most streamers won’t be playing Wild Mode.
Do note that this isn’t the easiest deck to play, so if you don’t have at least some freeze mage experience i would advise against crafting it.
If you are facing a lot of control, take out an Acolyte of Pain and replace it with Arcane Intellect or Effigy, whichever best suits your playstyle.
You don’t want your Duplicate to be hitting just any minion, so here is a list of what you want it to hit, from the ideal card to less good cards. You don’t really want to Duplicate anything but these cards.
Molten Giant Emperor Thaurissan Sludge Belcher Alexstrasza Antique Healbot Mountain GiantThanks for checking my deck out, please leave a like rating! Excuse me if my English isn’t perfect, it isn’t my first language.
-1 Acolyte of Pain and +1 Sunfury Protector?
It is possible, but i often feel like the ice blocks are enough to defend your hero. Putting a taunt up when you have less than 10 health won’t really save you against spells anyway, so if you don’t have ice block up, you most likely lost already.
