First of all, I want to say that this is my favorite deck, and it’s actually pretty good at ladder play. I played shaman since GVG and although I had bad decks, I never stopped beliving in the elements.
Win Conditions (How to play this deck)
This deck has serval win conditions and can win in almost every match. the top decks right now that we want to counter are (according to tempostorm)
Aggro Shaman and Pirate Warrior
Both shaman and warrior don’t have enough late game, so you need to make the game last longer with “cheaters” like Jinyu Waterspeaker or Twin Emperor Vek'lor. If you manage to do this, they will just concede.
Miracle Rogue
The playstyle of rogues is very unusual one, with good earley, mid and late game, rogues can do almost everything. The key card for this matchup is Devolve, that can turn 10/10 stealthed Edwin VanCleef into Novice Engineer. You want to remove the rogue’s threats efficiently, and play a giant C'Thun to finish them off.
Reno Kabal (Mage and Warlock)
These decks will try to win the value game, withh the combo Brann Bronzebeard&Kazakus they always get more value than you. Both of these decks sacrifice consistency for huge value. The easy way to win against them is a board of giant evolved minions, if they use all of their removal, you can play C'Thun and win before they say “We’re gonna be rich!”.
Midrange Shaman
The goal is very simple – curvestone. If you can curve better, you automatically win. This deck doesn’t need to have totems so you are free to play the annoying curvestone player against these deck.
Control Warrior
Hope that the deck is Pirate Warrior, because if it’s not, you’re pretty screwed. If you are the unlucky guy who plays vs. one of these, just build a massive Jade Golem army.
Dragon Priest
Dragon priests have no answers to massive board. Shadow Word: Death isn’t good enough, so as Dragonfire Potion.
Card Replacement
If you miss few cards, there are many options for cards that can replcae it
- Crazed Alchemist
- Aya Blackpaw
- another Fire Elemental
- another Acidic Swamp Ooze
- Maelstrom Portal
- Master of Evolution
Useful Tips
- Use deck tracker. This thing is so helpful to know if your opponent is holding a board clear, and to know when to evolve. Click me for a good deck tracker
- This deck requires more skill that it seems, but has a pretty good winrate if you play it correctly. You might fall few ranks in the beginning and change cards, but then you can win almost every match.
- This deck is mostly a fun deck, if you want meta decks, just add the “pirate package” to a random deck and win.
- This deck REALLY needs good RNG, so if you feel unlucky, don’t play it.
- Pretend you are another tier 1 shamans, this will work more than you think
