Deck Import

The Elemental Mage deck is another potentially strong offering from the Journey to Un’Goro expansion. This deck could possibly be the successor to the Flamewaker Tempo Mage that is no longer with us in Standard. Mage got an interesting Elemental Legendary in Pyros, but I’m hesitant to place it into the list before I see how it play. Mage does have access to Water Elemental which was given the Elemental tag and is a strong on-curve minion.

This Elemental Mage deck list guide will focus on some of the theory behind the deck at first, but then be expanded as the deck is played and refined.

Elemental Mage Mulligan Guide

This will be fleshed out further once the deck list becomes more refined. Babbling Book, Mana Wyrm, and Sorcerer's Apprentice are your general mulligans. You can keep three drops if you get at the very least get a 1-drop, but you’d like to have a 1 and a 2 to follow the curve.

Elemental Mage Play Strategy

Elemental Mage is very similar to the old Tempo Mage, but without Flamewaker it could be less reliant on spells. You will still want to be pushing out minions, while using spells like Frostbolt and Fireball to clear your opponent’s minions.

Elemental Mage Card Substitutions

Tough to say right now, it will come down to whether this deck sees cards like Pyros make the cut. This seems like a fairly affordable deck on the surface.

Not enough taunt. Seriously. You have like no defense against aggro here, aside from board clears, which are usually too expensive to stay ahead of the opponent.

this is incredibly weak deck. No hate, I want mage to work but this deck gets rekt most of the time …

I would put flamestrike and take away one faceless summoner. I ran this deck for few games and seems to need board clearing magic.

Agree. I took out a second Acolyte cause i had moments where i was in danger of over drawing. You get enough cards with discover, deahtrattles and random spells. And i play my golden Pyros cause i got it and it works fine. Had much fun playing this.

      I think a Flamestrike or a Meteor
I feel this deck has a lack of mass cleaning

So I’m just gonna say this, pyros needs to be in here. Personally I’d remove a faceless summoner for it. It’s great synergy. It’s got elemental synergy and grows with the deck. I always keep it in my opening hand and you have a turn 6 threat that leads into a turn 7 blazecaller
