Deck Import

Hi folks,

Firstly i want to say that by no means do I consider myself an expert, I have only played Priest, and seeing as how I just hit 500 wins, (playing since february) I would share my best Dragonpriest deck with you.

This deck is designed to get you through to round 4-6 when you can begin unleashing those winged monsters on your enemy. If you’re reading this there is a good chance that you have looked over a dragonpriest deck before, so many of the same principals apply. I will highlight my unique dynamics below and indicate which cards combo well together.

Early Round

Many of us priests know the struggle of the uphill battle in the early rounds with dragonpriest decks. A key component to this deck is to HOLD certain cards until you receive maximum value for them.

Northshire Cleric, Swamp Ooze, Nethersprite, and Dirty Rat (especially) should be held until their individual abilities will reward you with: a card draw, a weapon break, a discovered dragon.

Northshire Cleric

I generally try to wait until i have a damaged minion on my board and at least 3 mana so i can guarentee a card draw. They can be played together (if you have 2) to really increase your hand size quickly. This is integral for your “Twilight Dragon”‘s ability.

Swamp Ooze

Should almost always be saved until the opponents strongest weapon comes out. There is no worse feeling then breaking a warrior’s Fiery War Axe only to watch him equip an Arcanite Reaper and bump its durability up to 3-4. If you are playing against Warlock / Mage / Priest / Druid / Shaman, they tend to not have any weapons.

*They may use Medivh and his greatstaff, uncommon but a real thorn if you have played BOTH of your Oozes*

Nethersprite Hero

Straight forward. Wait until you have another dragon. You need her to discover a dragon because many dragon abilities rely on having other dragons in hand. Drakenoid Operative should almost always be taken. Twilight Dragon is perhaps a better choice if you have an inner fire in your hand, with large hand size.

Dirty Rat

Perhaps my single favourite card in this entire game. You summon an opponents card WITHOUT THE CARDS BATTLECRY ACTIVATING!!!

He can be coupled with dragonfire potion or better yet Power Word: Death, some opponents will straight up quit after you insta their 10 cost minion in round 5. He also is so nice against agro decks like murlocs and pirates because of the enemy battlecry abilities not activating. With 2/6 AND taunt he has insane stats for a 2 cost. He is a prime target for an early round inner fire making him a 6/6 with taunt. An absolute beast to set northshire next to.

Many Priests associate inner fire with OTK (one turn kill) decks like silence priest. In my deck the inner fire is used on those 1/3 minions like northshire and nethersprite to at least break even in the early game. Many times a power word shield or kabal talonpriest can be used to give yourself a 5/5 or 6/6 for realitivley cheap mana cost.

Dragonpriest is known to really hit hard during the mid to late rounds. The inner fires are there to be used early, but if you do save one, ysera can be a nightmare at 12/12. Mid range Paladin decks generally are the hardest to beat with this deck.

Thank you for taking the time to read about my deck and good luck out there!
