General Mulligans

For this deck, you really just want to look for your early game, which just means your two cost cards, These will help you stabilize, and allow you to push face well. If you fin yourself with at least two 2’s, go ahead and look for dragons (except Primordial Drake) as they help wothnwhatnyour deck is about. These 2’s are good against any deck type.

This is a Dragon Even Paladin deck that I have made to try out cards like Cathedral Gargoyle  and Ebon Dragonsmith. I decided to try it on an Even Paladin format, as both these cards were even, and so were they cards they synergies with. Even Paladin was hurt hard by the nerf to Call to Arms, but can still be a good deck without that card. This deck had a decent win-rate in Rank 5-3, which I climbed to.

Card Choices

Cathedral Gargoyle – This is the main idea of the deck. Paladin can utilize the synergies of dragons fairly well compared to other classes, and in a dragon deck this was quite obvious.

.

Ebon Dragonsmith – Once I decided on the deck theme, this was the first card I turned to as it is good in Paladin with their high cost weapons, and just so happens to be a dragon.

Lightfused Stegodon – Because of your one-mana hero power, it is easy to keep a good amount of recruits on your board

Drygulch Jailor – This is good with cards like Lightfused Stegodon and Sunkeeper Tarim.

Twilight Drake -This is for dragon synergy, and is good with Drygulch Jailor

Primordial Drake – This keeps dragon synergy, and is one of the only cards to fight aggressive decks like Even Shaman.

Val’anyr – This is a more excessive and unnecessary card for the deck, but it allows for more consistency with Ebon Dragonsmith, and for a better fight in the late game.

The Lich King – This card is just one of those cards that is good no matter what deck you put it in. This provides late game and protection, but isn’t entirely necessary.

Spikeridged Steed – Due to the loss of Call to Arms , this deck has to become a little slower. Because of this, Spikeridged Steed is a perfect choice because it provides protection, immediate stats, and board clear insurance.

Deck Guide

This deck plays similar to the old Even Paladin in many ways, but is slower than the more popular versions. Often your goal will be to spread out with small minions, and buff them with cards like Silver SwordSunkeeper Tarim, or Lightfused Stegodon, and just beat your opponent. This deck includes the dragon package for strong starts, and large tempo boosts with your Cathedral Gargoyle andScaleworm

Early Game

This is the time to keep your presence on the board with powerful two drops, and your discounted hero power. Simply trade when you feel it will help, other wise go face. Don’t spend too much time trading or you will fall behind on board

Mid-Game

At this time, you need to start to figure out how you will buff the board. To determine this, look at you’re hamd for your power cards. This is also the time to start discounting your weapons. This will often be the time where you need to hit face hard and kill your opponent. Try to avoid late game as a one mana hero power will not be much help at that point.

Late Game

At this time, of you haven’t killed your opponent, you need to try and look for an out. Your weapons are your greatest tool to finishing your opponent, so do not waste your strikes on 1/2’s.

Card Replacements

Val’anyr – Truesilver ChampionBlessing of KingsSound the Bells!

The Lich King – Primordial DrakeTirion Fordring , or just more early game

Primordial Drake – ConsecrationMossy HorrorSaronite Chain Gang

Of course these cards, or other non-core cards that you don’t own can be replaced by a tech card, or a good 2-drop. If you have a question about a replacement, I will be happy to help.

Final Notes and Info

*When you have a recruit in your hand, remember that your hero power  does the same thing. So when you have three Receuits in hand, play two and hero power, not play three.

*Dont forget that your Dragon cards need a dragon to do their thing. Watch for the yellow!

*Lightfused Stegodon isn’t always going to hit 4 recruits, and your Ebon Dragonsmith won’t always get a weapon, but if you have no plays, a 3/4 is definitely better than nothing. Don’t hold on to them just to get good value out of them.
