Renolock is back!
With the new cards coming back from wild, it gives a lot of powerful cards that warlock can use. The most notable of these is N'Zoth, The Corruptor, who combines very well with Expired Merchant to get two copies. This gives you massive late-game value and board swings. This deck also features various throwbacks, such as the Leeroy Jenkins + Abusive Sergeant + Faceless Manipulator combo. While Abusive Sergeant isn’t quite as powerful as Power Overwhelming, it is still a 16 damage combo and can even be more with Zephrys the Great. This version of the deck is riddled with tech cards and could be changed depending on the current meta. For example, I don’t think Lord Jaraxxus is good right now (as much as I want him to be) because of the current burn and highlander decks having the ability to get Sacrificial Pact.
Matchups, Strategy, Mulligan & Card Choices
ALWAYS KEEP:
Zephrys the Great, SN1P-SN4P, Zilliax.
These cards are good in every matchup, and the best 3 cards in standard right now.
Versus Aggro:
Doomsayer, Hellfire, Mortal Coil, Imp Gang Boss, and Bone Wraith.
Sometimes you can also keep cards like Mind Control Tech, Shadow Bolt, or Khartut Defender depending on the matchup.
All these cards will help you survive in the early game, getting to you a powerful mid-to -late-game strategy.
Versus Control/Combo:
Imp Gang Boss, Twilight Drake, Mountain Giant, Sandbinder.
In some of the greedier matchups, you can keep Emperor Thaurissan or Sylvanas Windrunner for a great midgame play.
Tech Choices:
Do you find yourself playing against a lot of battle cry shamans, holy wrath paladins or murloc decks? Try cutting cards like Spellbreaker or Earthen Ring Farseer for cards like Hungry Crab, Demonic Project, or Hecklebot. You can also substitute out late-game threats like Ragnaros the Firelord for someone like Siamat. If you want to get super greedy, you could throw in another discard card and use Soulwarden to get even more value!
This deck seems like it might actually make Warlock good again!
