The versions pros have floated so far seem to use him strictly for value, so it is replaceable but do be aware that many of the other cards are selected with grumble in mind. Spirit echo would have a similar effect, but be aware it loses tempo instead of gaining.

I think servant of kalimos seems like a good replacement, im honestly suprised its not run at all. i seems like a good card to use.
